    Castles&Crusades: Is this "The One"?

I have some experience with C&C. Here are my thoughts. Pros: lots of support and supplements, love the setting Aihrde Cons: my group did not like the siege engine, production quality for the books seems pretty low

D&D General When did Kickstarters become a bad deal

I appreciate you sharing your experience. If I may clarify my own experience a little I think we may see we are not so far apart. I have backed well over 100 kickstarters. Some from large companies like Free League and KP and some from 1-2 person outfits kickstarting their first passion...

D&D General When did Kickstarters become a bad deal

Yes agreed. I could have expressed it better. And all projects are different and some still offer great value but I have noticed that many online gaming stores like Atomic, Miniature Market, Game Nerdz etc receive the same product i supported on KS (likely because they backed it too) and...

D&D General When did Kickstarters become a bad deal

Yeah but now I can back a Kickstarter and pay $60 for it and another $15 in shipping or wait for Miniature Market to get it and pay $40 and $5 for shipping. The issue isn’t that shipping and book costs have gone up it’s that I assume all the risk and pay 30% more (as an example) . A couple...

D&D General When did Kickstarters become a bad deal

I think you are missing the broader point. It is not about KS as a company. There was a time a lot of KS projects found a way to offer value for backers in exchange for backers assuming some of the risk. Now most projects are as expensive or more expensive on KS then they will be in retail...

D&D General When did Kickstarters become a bad deal

I started thinking about this today when my package for Dr. Dhrolin’s arrived empty with a note from the post office apologizing. It wasn’t really the post office’s fault. It was a thin cardboard wrap that was never going to survive international shipping. Shipping I paid between $20 and $30...

ToV Kobold Press Tome of the Valiant Game Master's Guide ks signup

I am not sure an official reason was given. I know Brian Suskind did a bunch of research for it and maybe even some travel. But I think it was due to cultural sensitivity concerns.

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

I agree that TTRPG have peaked. I think it was already happening prior to the OGL fiasco but I do think the splintering he describes may speed it up a little.

I was saying making Midgard specific to ToV would drive off some people not that KP was doing that. Just that if it went that way it could/would. A hypothetical discussion.

I don’t think so. It may also drive off a larger audience. If the setting became super ToV specific I wouldn’t continue to support it.

Not to hijack the thread but do you know if more books for Midgard are planned?

D&D General io9: 2023 Should Have Been D&D's Best Year, Until It Wasn't

Yes. At the volume they sell it is pretty huge. Not to mention all the revenue they get from other things like licenses with Wizkids etc.

D&D General io9: 2023 Should Have Been D&D's Best Year, Until It Wasn't

Me too. I was pretty disappointed. I liked the concept and hated the execution. My group played it for less than 2 months and then abandoned it.
