D&D General io9: 2023 Should Have Been D&D's Best Year, Until It Wasn't

Yes and backing does not equal long term engagement or sustainment. I know a lot of people who backed 7 Seas and once they started playing it hey did not care for it. I know people who backed MCDM previous 5E supplements and liked the idea but found the execution too unwieldy. Just because...

D&D Movie/TV Baldurs Gate 3 Live Action Series talks at Netflix

We just see things differently. Cartoons are just not immersive for me.

D&D General io9: 2023 Should Have Been D&D's Best Year, Until It Wasn't

I certainly stand corrected. My apologies.

D&D General io9: 2023 Should Have Been D&D's Best Year, Until It Wasn't

Yeah that feels like the culture. Negativity just sells. Let’s let Jeff Easley take offense if he wants to, which I doubt he has, no need to do it in others behalf.

D&D General io9: 2023 Should Have Been D&D's Best Year, Until It Wasn't

I think you are mostly right but it may have suppressed sales somewhat. I actually like every product this year for the first time in a long time but I have bought none of them. Not because I am boycotting or anything like that, just because my enthusiasm for the game has been a little...

True but most will be a flash in the pan.

D&D General io9: 2023 Should Have Been D&D's Best Year, Until It Wasn't

Article is ironic and accurate. This should have been such an amazing year. Quality D&D movie, strong sales, preparations for the 50th anniversary and the continued mainstreaming of D&D not to mention video game of the year and instead it is PR bungle after PR bungle.

D&D Movie/TV Baldurs Gate 3 Live Action Series talks at Netflix

I get that. But CGI is made to appear ‘realistic’ within the physics of the world/story telling which is not the same as animation from a visual perspective even if created similarly. I understand it is my issue and not necessarily others. But I know a lot of people who watched GoT who would...

D&D Movie/TV Baldurs Gate 3 Live Action Series talks at Netflix

Couldn’t disagree more. I hate animated shows. It is a hard pass for me.

D&D Movie/TV Baldurs Gate 3 Live Action Series talks at Netflix

Agree. And look how they just dumped Shadow and Bone. Netflix seems focused on cheap, low quality and poor written and acted shows at this point.

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

I agree as it relates to Hasbro and their current finances. But there are many instances where reducing payroll is just a mechanism to increase profits for shareholders when sales level off but a company remains very profitable overall.

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

This seems like a pretty big leap. It may impact the product and may not.

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

Often layoffs are not related to how many employees a company can support or even need but an attempt to make them look more profitable to impress Wall Street and investors. Though some companies have too many employee or cannot afford to keep their current staffing. I have no idea what the...

WotC WotC Removes Release Dates From Promo Images For 2024

It is certainly amusing and makes for a lot of fun jokes but I don’t think it is a general sign of competence. I work for one of the largest companies in the United States and you would be surprised at the typos and errors I see in presentations, SOPs, public releases etc. it is the nature of...

D&D General Dungeons of Drakkenheim & Lairs of Etharis: WotC Adds Third Party Products To D&D Beyond

I don’t think it is just a quality issue but a content issue. I imagine they would like to review/vet anything before it goes on the platform they own.

D&D General Dungeons of Drakkenheim & Lairs of Etharis: WotC Adds Third Party Products To D&D Beyond

Yeah I mean with KP trying to compete more directly I am not sure it would make sense to include them and it looks like MCG is not producing any more D&D either.

    D&D 5E (2014) OAR #8

True. But with this doing so well I hope they look at the Lankhmar boxed set for 5E. The tiny softcover book for 5E didn’t do it justice at all.

    D&D 5E (2014) OAR #8

I suspect these are being viewed as collectors editions to be placed on a coffee table more than they will ever be used in a game. What surprises me is the 5E version is outpacing the DCC, at least last time I looked. The opposite of what happened with their monster book.
