D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

Exactly. And it looks like they either have a profound misunderstanding of what WoTC is planning from a design perspective and distribution perspective (digital only) or more likely they are playing off the illwill from the PGL fiasco to misrepresent things. I am not saying this to bag on KP...

D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

I am going to try and be respectful in my reply which is more than I can say for yours. But WoTC has not indicated they are moving to digital releases only and this certainly implies that but doesn’t say so directly.

D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

True but that is not what this implies. They are implying WoTC is moving all digital. ‘We aim to keep the spirit of tabletop alive by producing beautiful, inviting versions of the core rulebooks for those who prefer to play face-to-face and those who don’t want to pay a monthly subscription to...

Yea it is from a Facebook post about Black Flag. Also here: https://koboldpress.com/project-black-flag/

That’s not what they are implying though and I am certain you know that.

D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

I have been a loyal KP Kickstarter backer however this advertisement for Black Flag seems a little misleading. Is there really any indication that WoTC only plans to have core D&D material available electronically. I really see myself not supporting KP as they separate themselves from D&D...

    D&D 5E (2024) Developer Video on Druid/Paladin/Expert Feedback

My daughter has been playing a Circle of the Moon Druid since she was 11 and uses wild shape constantly. Every chance she gets she is turning into one creature or another.

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

I create a fair amount of my own lore but I would like WoTC to provide a lot more. It is not one or the other. I make my own lore and content but would also like a lot more for WoTC. I don’t know whether most people can create their own lore or not. I would guess that varies quite a bit...

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

The lack of lore is frustrating for sure. I have heard them say it is because too much lore makes the game less accessible. I can see that for new DMs it might make things tougher. But I wish they would also develop some projects with more lore even if it was just one book a year. I like to...

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

I don’t know if Micah and I agree on 5E in general but I do think 5E has been bare of much lore.

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

That does appear the case sadly. Hoping they determine the best way to invigorate sales is with a new setting released in a box set but that is probably wishful thinking.

I am not sure how that would be knowable based on the minute amount of information teased thus far.

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

I think this nicely illustrates the situation WoTC finds themselves in. They have such a large base no matter what they release a lot of people complain. Some people want more lore and fluff some don’t. Even those that do cannot agree on what lore or fluff they would like to see etc. But...

Planescape 5 New D&D Books Coming in 2023 -- Including Planescape!

I really don’t get all the complaining about the First World. For one it has hardly been mentioned. Just the tiniest bit if that. Second, use what you want. I have literally never purchased and used a RPG book verbatim. I like to call that creativity or customization. Lastly I would love a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Developer Video on Druid/Paladin/Expert Feedback

Ill respond to these posts in tandem. So Im of the opinion that the 5E Ranger as presented in 2014 was the most Rangery Ranger ever made. I agree with many of your points. However the 2014 Ranger was disliked by many. In many surveys it was one do the least played classes.

    D&D 5E (2024) Developer Video on Druid/Paladin/Expert Feedback

As far as the Lore Bard, no duh. Kind of seems the developers are a lot out of touch. The Lore Bard is really nothing special without the additional magical secrets. I thought just about everyone knew that.

Those were amazing. I still own several too. Complete Necromancers Handbook being my absolute favorite.

Me too. I think a lot of people do but I feel like most things the unhappy people take up most of the oxygen.

WotC WotC general D&D survey just went live.

In many ways I am the opposite. While I wish character options were a little more robust the simplicity of 5E allows me to really tell the story. My group has a lot of informal house rules which 5E lends itself to well.

WotC WotC general D&D survey just went live.

Totally agree. Surveys like that weed out most people. They either get the most diehard fans or the most disgruntled. So the data from these surveys has a strong bias and probably doesn’t represent causal players at all. But casual players don’t spend as much either I suspect.
