D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

I like this idea. Then a year later they could release a magic supplement with wizard schools, more spells and maybe alternate magic rules.

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

It would have been nice if they added a couple brand new subclasses too.

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

Necromancer and swashbuckler for sure though swashbuckler needed a major overhaul in my opinion.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Dragon Redesign video, updated.

I can see that but it doesn’t have to be a ‘book’ form to do that.

D&D 5E (2024) WotC Dragon Redesign video, updated.

Digital art book seems kind of lame. Hopefully a physical version will make it to retail at some point. It still seems weird to me that they redesigned all the dragons a couple years after Fizbans. Maybe they heard the criticism that Fizbans could have been so much better and will take...

D&D General 5.5 and making the game easier for players and harder for DMs

I wish. I don’t mind a good debate. I see more of the complaining ‘the game isn’t for me’ (whatever that means), ‘making the game harder for the DM’ (I think taken out of context) in these boards then solid debates.

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

I don’t recall WoTC sanctioning the AI art. I thought the artist in question did it without their knowledge. Also, most companies have laid off people at some point. If the bar to be an ethical company is to never lay off staff almost no company meets that bar.

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

I recommend forgiving and moving on. Looking back 50 years even people judged to be ‘good’ or ‘moral’ pillars of their time would be wanting by current standards. Thats what progress is. I am not excusing Gygax or similar ilk by any means and many people of his time were better but look at...

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

Indeed. As much as I love MASH, every time I watch a re-run I cannot help but reflect the protagonist is a womanizing, sexually harassing-sexist. I still love Hawkeyes character in the context of that time period but realize in today’s standards it is cringe worthy and very disparaging of women.

D&D General 5.5 and making the game easier for players and harder for DMs

I am a DM and none of these things concern me in the least. I think people in general just like to complain. It’s all going to be fine.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Pre-orders; this is sad

Just to clarify I don’t. I am addressing this thread specifically and the logic in general. As far as your purchase you do you.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Pre-orders; this is sad

You don’t think every publisher wants to monetize their game if the opportunity exists? Critical Role monetizes everything, would you buy from them? Pathfinder as well but with lesser success but not for lack of effort. For most business it is grow or die so monetization is critical. I...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Pre-orders; this is sad

My question too. Sometimes on these boards I feel like I am in an alternate reality. This whole thread literally makes no sense. I feel like I am reading 2+2 = cheese.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Pre-orders; this is sad

This is not really true. Bookstores saw a downturn in the early 2000s and some consolidation and bankruptcies. But more recently Barnes and Nobles has been quite profitable and independent book stores are doing pretty well too.

D&D 5E (2024) Green Dragon First Look on Gizmodo

Overall I really like the reboot of how dragons look. It really seems to separate them and make them unique. My one nitpick is why not do this before Fizbans release or release Fizbans after the redesign.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

Magic feeling magical is less about class features which can often be explained in other ways and more by the world building and story telling of the DM and how NPCs in the world react to magic when they encounter it.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

True but magic items were heavily used by all classes and in much greater amounts than the current edition. Magic permeated the game.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

I am sure you know. You have been on these threads long enough. That aside it has been implied in this thread that magic in 5E is much more common than previous editions.
