D&D 5E (2014) Megadungeon delving as a campaign’s core; is it compatible with modern play?

Crafting a CLW wand takes one day. The GM can literally say "While the cleric builds the wand the fighters clean and repair their kit and the ranger and druid go hang out in the Forrest collecting junk for their spells. The next day dawns". Two sentences, the wand is done, and everyone gets...

Is The Forum Getting More Antagonistic?

The problem being that I'm fairly certain not every poster here... 1. Realizes their opinion is theirs only, not everyone's. 2. Accepts others opinion as valid without federal courtroom level evidence provided supporting it.

Is The Forum Getting More Antagonistic?

Just a data point for sosmething that happened to me. I have, in two different threads in the past, been unfairly jumped by mods-as-posters in ways that were personal. In both of those cases I chose to not flag the comment...because why bother to do that against the mod who is going to review...

Is The Forum Getting More Antagonistic?

Can we get rid of the shrug?

Have you ever had a real experience you consider to be supernatural?

I have some good ones for this topic. The first two are just coincidence that's entertaining but the third is coincidence that made me think. 1. My wife and daughter were out of town and I had the house to myself. I am pretty hardcore skeptical but I like to watch scary movies to TRY to...

D&D 5E (2014) Megadungeon delving as a campaign’s core; is it compatible with modern play?

We would all party in the town and then fast forward the creation bit. I doubt anyone would have much PC item creation in a campaign that punished the player by making them sit out the game to use that function if their powers.

D&D 5E (2014) Megadungeon delving as a campaign’s core; is it compatible with modern play?

The biggest issue with running World's Largest Dungeon as written is that there isn't an ability to "go back to town" even with magic at higher levels. I introduced a "Pocket Town" in a portable hole (similar to the Army In A Bag from Knights of the Dinner Table) almost at the entrance to allow...

D&D 5E (2014) Megadungeon delving as a campaign’s core; is it compatible with modern play?

I'd say CLW wands accounted for 95+% of all the items ever crafted....they are just so low bar to make in terms of level, gold, and XP requirements they they were a huge loophole in the system. But each table has their own meta....at my 5e table a counterspell from a PC is ultra rare, no one...

D&D 5E (2014) Megadungeon delving as a campaign’s core; is it compatible with modern play?

I'm pretty sure in 3e we had one CLW wand in every character and NPCs pack, and the clerics had 4-5 of them in theirs. The CLW creating cleric was an absolute must.

D&D 5E (2014) My Simple Spell Rarity House Rule

Things like this still happen. A GM ran us through Out of the Abyss fairly close to how it was written in the book. I was playing a GOO warlock who took the book path that allowed me to learn any ritual. Never found 1 outside of the spells I selected at level up.

D&D General Dan Rawson Named New Head Of D&D

You aren't showing me the link between "not a big departure" and "accusation of dishonesty". I couldn't tell you 5 words the designers have said about the new project, I just use 6e because. 1. It's easier to type on a phone. 2. It's not confused with the already in use OD&D which is the...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D One Changes to the Rogue...

I dunno what to tell you. Most dungeons have doorways, forests have trees, towns and ruins have buildings....maybe featureless large open spaces is something your table likes? Ranged rogues (2 of the 3 rogues that have been played at my table) pretty much never engage in melee. The one melee...

Of the 3 scenarios that's the one that is by far the most common at my table for the rogue getting SA.

D&D General Dan Rawson Named New Head Of D&D

So I'm a masochist and spent the time to bring up the Next Design Goals documents. They were in the Legends and Lore area of the WorC site. You can view them all here. But more specifically the modularity bits are found in Part 4 (Advanced Rules) directly found here. Its not unreasonable to...

D&D General Dan Rawson Named New Head Of D&D

The promises of 5e were delivered in a three part Design Diary series hosted on the WotC website, but since taken down. I have found links to them in the not to distant past but it takes awhile and is difficult to do on my phone. They were not a simple personal blog statement made privately...

D&D General Dan Rawson Named New Head Of D&D

Do you think perhaps it's a bit too early to decide on the amount of "change" that is going to happen when all you have to go on is two small play test documents (some of which has already been changed/dropped from part 1 to part 2)? Remember at this point in the development of 5e we were being...
