Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder BETA - Some Sizzle, Not Much Steak

Hmm. Had some time to digest the new beta thanks to Paizo's generous freebie download. And I have to say: I wish they would have stated that PF would not be backwards compatible. Having the need to be BC kills PFRPG from doing any really cool changes. And by "really cool changes" I mean...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder BETA - Some Sizzle, Not Much Steak

I won't comment on PFRPG (because I haven't read it, and probably won't if it's not much different than the alpha). What I will comment on is the OP's post: It's excellent. Here we have a guy who states his opinion, lays down concise information supporting his view, and ties it up nicely...

If Paizo had gone 4E ...

I don't think WotC tried to "derail" Paizo, but I think WotC did screw the pooch by taking Dungeon and Dragon away from Paizo - especially when WotC didn't have a (good) plan in place as to how to maintain the quality found in those mags within Paizo.

    Confessions of a 4E Detractor

In the air of :):):)-for-tat, I'll throw in my two coppers too. Earlier, I had gotten pretty zealous defending 4e - not because I knew the system (it wasn't even out yet), but because my nerd rage grew against some of those who ranted against it. I, in effect, became pro-4e because I was anti...

    4E is unacceptable

Forgive me if I get too academic with you, but: Take a chill pill, dude. I happen to think 4e is an unfinished game, and that bothers the crap out of me. But I like the foundation and I'm remaining optimistic it will grow so that my expectations meet reality. As for Paizo, I'm sorry to hear...

If Paizo had gone 4E ...

You know, I think Paizo can and does get a couple bucks from 4e players who still buy Paizo products - and then convert them. I imagine if Paizo went 4e, there would be far fewer 3e players that grab those products and do the same conversion for their system. Right now 4e players don't seem...

If Paizo had gone 4E ...

I echo many of the previous responses - I would buy Paizo adventures in a heartbeat if they were 4e. That's nirvana for me - my preferred adventures with my preferred system. Man...that would rock.

WotC to Revise D&D 4th Edition GSL and SRD

And that's good enough for yours truly. When I look at my bookshelf, I have WotC books, Goodman modules, and Necro modules. So this is a win. :) I also have a ton of Paizo mags. You know what I'd love to see on the heels of this nice GSL news? Paizo reclaiming Dragon and Dungeon. A girl can...

WotC to Revise D&D 4th Edition GSL and SRD

Darrin - You've personally lambasted WotC for the GSL, and justifiably so. Why now are you negative when they've (apparently) listened to the community and (hopefully) intend to make changes? I understand it may be difficult to (potentially) lose an item on your List of Things to Bitch...

Maybe different versions just have different goals, and that's okay.

1E: My favorite. Perhaps only due to nostalgia. I certainly couldn't play it now for an extended campaign (and yes, I've tried). 2E: Skipped this version. 3E: Loved it. Power to the Players. Brought me back into the fold. 4E: Love it. Power to the DM. Makes me happy to DM again. I think...

Licensees not going to 4e because of poor sales?

Do you think WotC really cares what every schlep on the 'net decides to post regarding anecdotal hobby shop 4e sales evidence? Do you think they jump from their chairs shouting "OMG! SOMEONE IS WRONG ON THE INTERNET! MAGGAN SAYS OUR SALES ARE LEVELING OFF!!!" I didn't think so, either. Sales...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Adventure Path Subscription Stinker

Like many, I canceled my PF subscription when 4e moved onto the block. Not only did they (Paizo) handle the request quickly, I also got PDFs (for free!) of issues I otherwise would not have received. I used maps from those issues in a 4e "test run" adventure, and had a blast doing so. Paizo's...

Necromancer Games NOT going with current GSL.

The GSL isn't the largest "unmitigated disaster". No, sirs, the largest unmitigated disaster is that you have a top-notch 3pp who wants to support the current version of D&D and cannot do so because of the frickin' license issues. Some publishers want to stay 3e. Fine. Some want to do PF...

D&D 4e is pure win and I'll tell you why...

I think you mistakenly saw a picture of me. I'm fat, bearded, and ugly. I am the Stereotypical Gamer that scares children and frightens parents. If not for the fact that I don't smell, I'd have been ranked #1 on USA Today's Stereotypical Gamer Rankings List. As it stood, some guy in Georgia is...

Epic Fight turns into Epic Farce

[threadhijack] You know what I just realized? I sorta liked 3e's save or die stuff, or at least I didn't mind it. But I hated it's save or sit out stuff. Having your character die during an adventure is part and parcel of this game we play, irrespective of the edition. What really stinks, I...

    4E Paper Magazine

Reading the KQ thread got me to thinking: Is there anyone out there, or any rumors swirling, of someone planning to publish a 4e magazine? I'm not talking online content - that just doesn't scratch the itch. I'm talking an honest to goodness arrive-in-your-mailbox-monthly 4e magazine. I don't...

D&D 4E Anyone know if KQ is going 4e?

I'm not sure I agree with you. The online content for 4e is no where close to the quality Paizo put out in the paper version of the magazines, and this latest adventure (the Haunted Manor or whatever it is) was completely subpar. All of this, of course, IMO. I will say this: I certainly would...

Pathfinder 1E Rate Paizo as a Company!

    4. Paizo when they still had Dragon/Dungeon: 6. I understand the loss wasn't their fault, but I immensely enjoyed what Eric & Co. did with Dungeon (in particular) and Dragon. I don't get as much use out of their PF and GM lines, and am not interested in the PFRPG. So if a rating has to...

    Forked Thread: Changeover poll

Dear Mr. BryonD: 1. There will be a contingent of folks that do not move forward; there always is (see Dragonsfoot). 2. There will be a contingent of those folks that, for one reason or another, are bitter about the edition change (see General RPG Discussion board). 3. And there will be a...
