Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

Same. I'm contacting my players to desperately figure out if we're going to delay the start, run something else, or start with limited and crippled options.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

No. But the fact that we should have heard something about it's existence by now is indication that it's not happening this year. They are ramping up the marketing on the Starter Set and beginning to promote the Forgotten Realms books in November. The October book still doesn't have a title...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

So apparently the October book is off the release schedule. I think that proves it was MtG and not Ravenloft and the Eberron delay shows that October book needed to be ready yesterday for it to get released. Guess we'll see it in 2026...

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

Could you imagine the "WotC is delaying the printed version to force us all to buy D&D Beyond" backlash? I'm upset, but there was no way to give Digital a head start and not face criticism. They have to delay everything.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

I'd like to think we don't, but people always try to put things in boxes and label them (for example, planetouched to refer to anyone who has ancestry from another plane. A tiefling who comes from a long line of tieflings is planetouched, a Khorvar who has elf parents who are eladrin or astral...

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

Unfortunately, almost any term is poisoned due to long systemic issues with intermarriage. Humans don't have breeds. There is no other sentient creature left we can interbreed with. All human differences are within 1% distance genetically. The only language we have to even express the difference...

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

Tallfellow and stout was always a thin reference to Tolkien's Hobbits having "a bit of fey" and similar.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

Yes. The term half-elf is reminiscent of that phrase. The whole language around half-races (in game) are coded with that kind of language. Which is why I would prefer a term like Khorvar to half-elf. To remove the connotation between the species and the hurtful term.

Nothing fosters conversation more than "that's not what I said" and refusing to clarify. Don't bother clarifying. I don't care anymore.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

If the horror UA at all is still pointing at a Ravenloft book, then I suspect dhampir and reborn to be remade as undead

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

The phrase isn't needed any more than tieflings need to use the term "half-fiend" or goliaths "half-giant". It has no mechanical function and a dubious narrative one. They need only say Khorvar have elf and human ancestors.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

I think part of the problem is that people see a lot of D&D species as "half-x" where x is another race or monster type. Tieflings are half-fiends. Aasimar are half-angels. Dragonborn are half-dragons. Shifters are half-lycanthropes. Etc. D&D has tried to move away from "humans breed with...

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

Khorvar was the name the half-elves called themselves in lore. The PHB called them half-elves, so the mechanical reference to Khorvar is to PHB half-elf. The half-elf is no longer in the PHB, so they don't need to use that term anymore.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

From a game mechanics side: the Khorvar work fine for classic half-elf and the orc mechanics are superior to half-orc. You can use them both to mechanically represent the 2014 races in 2024. Just like how a wizard can be redefined as a witch (c.f. Tasha), the mechs are similar enough to be used...

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

The half-elf just came back with a name that doesn't say "half-breed" in it. Half-orcs were subsumed mechanically into the PHB orc.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

If the table of contents is a guide, it looks like the three campaign types are general Eberron info regurgitated into one place by theme; Noir is all about Sharn, Intrigue is about the Dragonmark Houses, and Pulp is Morgrave going on wild dungeon delves. Less an outline of plots and more a...

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

5e hasn't even gotten to the weird yet. Tasha is barely beyond Xanathar in terms of oddities. We're 11 years in and haven't gotten a proper psion in print yet. There is no planar book beyond Planescape/Sigil, no monster books for undead or aberrations, no book of magic. Only a single monster...
