New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I wouldn't mind a 2e style Tome of Magic, a collection of new spells and a few new PC options (the original wild magic). Make a book with a bunch of new spells, magical subclasses and feats, magic items, and a few magical monsters. Toss in some bastion stuff and you got a good $30.00 supplement.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

We've already had the FR subclass UA, before the horror ones. This is probably for a 2026 project.(The psion and horror are too, most likely).

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I'd give it a 50/50 shot it ends up in a Dark Sun book, but I wager it also gets reprinted generic book as well.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

The problem is that the wizard can't be both a generic "master of all Arcane magic" AND a super-flavorful specialist without going OP. The fact they can pick all the best arcane spells and then be a great necromancer or summoner doesn't work. This is a good example. A generic wizard doesn't...

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I think the Hexblade revision puts a stake in the heart* of an October Ravenloft book, unless it was never intended for it or has been cut for later from it. I won't say never, but my money is increasingly that the October book is vaporware or delayed and these new UAs are all for 2026. (Either...

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

So I'm beginning to think we're getting a Everything book in early 2026. Maybe the horror and this UA (and the psion) are for this ...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

I agree the UA is a huge indicator. I just wouldn't read deep into the calendar date. If we get a Ravenloft book in October, that would be due more to fortuitous timing than any attempt to align with Halloween. On a semi-related note, I hope we hear something this week.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Ironically enough, WotC has been lousy at releasing spooky stuff at Halloween. Curse of Strahd and Van Richten's Guide both were spring releases. Maybe to give DMs enough time to buy and read the things. Anyway, I'm not not saying it's a possibility, but it doesn't have a lot of presedent.

WotC 3% Of Hasbro's Workforce Laid Off

We are losing ground in health care and education, places we were never tops in anyway. Reading levels are dropping, important scientific research is being ended, and funding for many critical parts of society are being cut. We might not be worse off than a 1920s person, but we're starting to...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

(Rhetorical question, unless @LaTia J feels chatty. ;) ) So WotC originally announced four books back in 2024: the two Forgotten Realms books, Dragon Delves, and the Keep on the Borderlands starter box. Then, earlier this year they announced two more books: Eberron Forge of the Artificer and a...

Ivan Van Norman Leaves Darrington Press

No, but people were saying the recent WotC staff that left was due to Hasbro wanting to use AI to write D&D books. Neither are true.

Ivan Van Norman Leaves Darrington Press

I assume this is due to Darrington Press looking to shrink it's workforce by using AI to write it's books? No?
