    [DRAGON #305] F-bomb dropped, Doc M fascinated.

There would be no such word as profane if that was true. What a segment of a society decides to do to a word does not change the nature of that word for the society as a whole. SD

    Wizard needing advice

You would need to work it out with the other players. You could not do it alone- unless a sleep spell got through. The next step would be to find people interested in buying them- zoo's, universities, nobles, etc. Or maybe that is the first step if you know of a monster. heh. Another idea-...

    The $40 mark is broken

Well, that was my comparison- and I did not suggest it was a valid way to price an item. I said it was how I determined how much I would spend on a rpg book. SD

    Wizard needing advice

What spells does he currently know? Perhaps he could start a business during down time to identify magic items or do simple magics for the locals? Or consider capturing the monsters you are facing and selling them! :) You could also speak to the other pc's and see if they can lend you some...

    The $40 mark is broken

So? One can't run their business become of what scum might do. As someone else already said- those likely to do it are most likely already doing it. SD

2002 Oscar Contest (Players' Picks Guide inclosed)

hmm. I did not know that. It seems silly to me, but I am not in the entertainment business. Since many of these movies will be out of the theaters by the time the Oscars come out- what does it get them? More sales when it comes out on tape/dvd? Is that the theory? SD

You may think words are symbols and meaningless by themselves, but the rest of society tends to disagree with you. That is why they are called "profane". The N-word is a classic example of a word so emotionally charged and possibly damaging that it is considered profane. If you have risen...

    The $40 mark is broken

I find very little entertainment in chatting with other people. In fact, I often find people irritating, but that is why I do my best to be a hermit. SD

    Vehicle Sourcebook

IIRC- Spycraft's Soldier/Wheelman guide gives more stats for a wide variety of vehicles. However- they are using the Spycraft stat system, but they could be a good foundation for a conversion. SD

    splinter cell

SC was ok. It had some fun moments, but it felt annoyingly inconsistant at times. If a game is going to have the option of shooting lights, then have all of them shootable or some way to know which are and which are not. The game was definitly one of caught/restart. It was annoying to have to...

    The $40 mark is broken

It is all means to entertainment for me. I consider how many hours of entertainment I get from spending my money, and it helps me budget that money. The comparison appears to work fine. SD

    The $40 mark is broken

Heh, I always thought a majority of rpg books are underpriced. When I compare the amount of pleasure I get out of an rpg for a dollar versus what I get from a puter game or movie ticket, I am willing to shell out more dollars for a quality book. SD

You want to know why the use of something profane is bad? Err.. ok. Is that like asking why doing something wrong is bad? SD

Re: Do it but don't say it? How about, as someone in their mid-twenties, I find the trend/behavior of the magazine to be distasteful? Is that valid? It is my money after all. That type of behavior may be acceptable in your games, but it is not acceptable in mine. Or, at least, it would be...

    D20 Modern Vs. Spycraft

If you have access to the search on the forum, then you may want to search this forum for a similar thread a month or so back- it had a lot of opinions shared. Quite a few thorough ones. In short- I prefer Spycraft. I find it plays well and with the addition of other base classes (Sleuth...
