I think Mentalism is fairly balanced, yes. I am not a rules expert, but from a casual DM like me, looks quite OK.

Yeah, it's good, but ya know .... I'd buy a Deluxe Tome of Secrets with all the color pics and more ... hmmm... Peps to it ? Ya know like pimping the classes to make them more bad ass or whatever it takes to give it 5 stars ? (just take away the morale rules :!)

I loved the old Fiend Folio. it was just great. Both me and my DM nemesis of the time borrowed heavily from it. It was ... new, refreshing ... FAN CREATED !!! I'm surprised that nobody mentioned that most everything inside came from a contest in White Dwarf ! to design D&D fantasy monsters...

I agree mostly to what the above posters have said. My differences is I think the idea of chases rules are good (I loved the previous .pdf Hot Pursuit), and the morale rules as written are simply horribly difficult to learn and use, and will waste a lot of time around the table if ever used...

I guess more is always good, as it will allow you to bring more diversity to the game, so please, carry on !

Not in my case, because I do a lot of conversions on the fly, and also I have a huge group (9 players when everyone is in) so i fudge levels and everything a lot to challenge them properly. it will be a problem I believe towards the end of the AP, but untso far it works fine. When I have time...

Wow, there's some necromancy around here. Today, i would possibly buy, but depending on several factors, not the least of which is SIZE. I have a 10 players group, and the major problem of the moment is sitting them all comfortably around the table.

Which was why I found them extremely boring and uninteresting. Different tatses for different people. Now, back in 1e, monsters were often exactly as you describe them, and it was just fine for me back at the time. Tastes change over time also. I remember seeing no changes from 1e to 2e...

I am running Runelords just now with PFRPG, and it flows like no problem. I have a huge group, so I have increased the number of monsters, but otherwise ... just fine.

Maybe I was reading it wrong, but I see no change from 3.5 I always understood that in order to detect evil, you had to have either an aura on your target (cleric/antipaladin/blackguard/evil outsider), and that non magic users were free from it. Did I get it wrong ?

Yeah I know, but after reading the description, honestly, it was not quite so clear what was meant to be achieved with the new game. I am not sure about their new system, but it looks better than my initial impression.

Honestly, at this stage, I don't think any explanation would make a difference to my opinions, or anybody in my group.

In my opinion, that looks awfully low. Especially given the objectives set forth for it. Now, IMO too, that means strictly nothing as such, as it could go either way. After all, the 8K are possibly all DMs, meaning that in truth some 32-64 K people truly access it.

Basically, yes ! First, I think that 20 % miss chance is already quite a lot of a benefit for a 2nd level spell. Then, seeing the spell description, "outline blurred, shifting and wavering" I don't see how this would cause you to miss, say a sword blow to the neck, or a kick in the groin...
