I don't know if I am banned or something, as my vote registers as "0" even though I voted for second edition .... ?
What is missing most is the great exciting settings of back then.
Though for the rules, I prefer 3.5
Maybe you guys should start reading about the Azincourt medieval battle again ?
Even though D&D has never been realistic, that sort of things really bug me, as I like to envision fight scenes from a real world point of view when designing them.
Thank you so much for this post of pure hate and condescension. It sums up why some people can be insulted by the word.
I am a grognard, but I liked the idea of a new edition, until I saw the previews' contents.
Well, I hope it is the last ever done by the current team, but if they do one, I imagine it will look like this :
i think there will be a 5e, which will include the great purge of the "holy pigs" that have been plaguing 4e so badly :
- no more warlocks
- no more tieflings
- The dragonborn will...
Young does not mean stupid. If the new gamers can only have an ugly non-functional site, they won't remain gamers for long.
Especially given the excellent forums they can have for MMOs.
Hah, the idea of migrating halflings was revolutionary back in early 3e....
The fact that everybody keeps seeing halflings as Tolkien hobbits shows how little impact it had on the gaming community.
Of course, there is nothing keeping WOTC from sticking on a bad idea to begin with ...
Nice post. I wouldn't necessarily mind high fantasy, it all depends how it is done.
I can't help having the feeling that 4e is looking somewhat like Heroes of Might and Magic. Except without the graphics.
I like HMM, but this is not my cup of tea.
