Maybe you guys should start reading about the Azincourt medieval battle again ? Even though D&D has never been realistic, that sort of things really bug me, as I like to envision fight scenes from a real world point of view when designing them.

Young does not mean stupid. If the new gamers can only have an ugly non-functional site, they won't remain gamers for long. Especially given the excellent forums they can have for MMOs.

Hah, the idea of migrating halflings was revolutionary back in early 3e.... The fact that everybody keeps seeing halflings as Tolkien hobbits shows how little impact it had on the gaming community. Of course, there is nothing keeping WOTC from sticking on a bad idea to begin with ...

quite true. i still use 1e modules a lot. Some 2e were good to however. I particularly like Border Watch for instance.

Nice post. I wouldn't necessarily mind high fantasy, it all depends how it is done. I can't help having the feeling that 4e is looking somewhat like Heroes of Might and Magic. Except without the graphics. I like HMM, but this is not my cup of tea.
