    [July] What are you reading?

Ah, my introduction to King. While he makes his big money with his novels, I most enjoy his short story compilations.

    [July] What are you reading?

Cabinet wasn't bad. I felt a little let down by the ending. Be sure to go to P&C's web page and read the alternate ending afterwards. The next one, Still life with Crows was quite good. I am hoping to start Brimstone (the next one in series after Crows) this week. Have you read any other...

    Region on PS2?

I take it you are in North America? If so, you can only play region 1. Even if you do succeed in finding a region hack, remember that region 2 countries (and some other regions) use PAL format vs NTSC that is used in North America. Even if you get it to play, it's not going to look pretty...

    Campaign in a Box

I second the The Shackled City campaign. I'm running it now out of past issues of Dungeon and it's a lot of fun. It should be out shortly in hardback from Paizo. I believe it is going to be a small to mid-sized print run so I'd snap it up quick.

    Player Ostracism: Advice Needed

I look at it this way: If you go to the game you may loose Spud as a friend. If you nicely bow out of the game you'll probably remain friends with everyone. When it comes right down to it real life takes precidence on this one. Friends are more important. That said, I hope you all can work...

    Please Play in My Game!

I saw this on Necromancer Games Gamers seeking Gamers forum and had to share: "Middle-aged guy with inferiority complex seeks to obtain hyper-dependent yet superficial friendships by giving your characters all the magic items and treasure they can carry. I'll let you be king of any fantastic...

The final "How old are you?" thread

    Boo-yaaaah! 1969 roxxors!

    The Agony of No-shows

On a slightly different tangent, if you don't want to game with a particular group anymore don't "no show" them. Have the maturity to let them know that your styles just don't mesh. This at least allows them to make arrangements for your absence before game day. We had a player do...

    Favorite House/Variant Rules

Dying Characters: Stabilization is a CON check. The DC is 15 plus the amount of hit points the character is below zero (a character at -2 HP gets a DC 17). A natural 20 always results in stabilization. Can't remember where I got this one from but I like it.

GMs, why are *you* doing the GMing in your group?

I enjoy DM'ing because I'm a bit of a control freak. I was also the only one prepared to run something when we finally got a group together. One of my players is going to start running the new adventure path in Dungeon so I'll get a chance to play again (yay!). We'll see if I make the same...

Do you still feel the wonder you had in your childhood games?

I was surprised to find that 3E rekindled my SOW. I wouldn't say I feel it everytime we game, but it does crop up from time to time. Even when it doesn't I still look forward to every session. Playing with 1 or 2 "old hands" like myself with a shared experience of classic modules helps too. ;)

The Archer (AKA Escape from the Empire)

I purchased a dvd dub from vhs on eBay a few months ago. Not quite as good as I remebered it but still a fun time. No Richard Pryor, but there is George Kennedy! :)

    What goes well with Goblins?

A barghest leader is probably out of the question then. If you do decide to use one you might want to have a look at the 1st edition AD&D MMII for more flavor text than is in the current MM listing.

    Change of Base

I'm not in Brunswick, but I do have a player that travels from there to our bi-weekly game in Oakland (20 minutes north of Augusta) so a car pool can probably be arranged. Our group of seven is loosing two members in August and we're looking to add 1-2 new members. If you are interested you...

Central Maine Group Looking for Players

Hmmm... svAmfivena seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth, so is anyone else in Central Maine interested? If you live in the Brunswick area we can probably arrange a car pool with one of our other members.

    AD&D 1E Holdover rules from 1e/2e

I agree. We "house ruled" that in my game. The paladin reaaally wanted a smiting sword.

Looking For Title of 80's Fantasy TV Show

I don't remeber much about this show but here goes: It was a short lived live action show set in a fantasy world. I remeber that there was a hero type, an evil wizard (that I believe worked for an evil warlord). It aired at night early in the 80's. I also seem to remeber that it was sort of...
