    D&D 5E (2014) Paladins in SCAG are all good-aligned?

Check out the section on adapting material for other settings - the Dragonlance section, at least, suggests Oath of the Crown for Knights of Takhisis, so it more a FR flavor thing, than anything else - same as the Bladesinger subclass Elf restriction. I suppose it's up to AL on whether it's...

Given this post, maybe they're alluding to Dragonlance content? https://twitter.com/Wizards_DnD/status/641396011664064513

    D&D 5E (2014) Character Options

I think most are missing the most obvious point: Firstly, in AD&D (1e), multiclassed casters capped around 11th, or lower, in their caster class. Single classed demi-humans could surpass the limit by 2 levels. Secondly, they advanced at double, or triple, the rate of single classed...

    D&D 5E (2014) Character Options

So, like an Eldritch Knight/Wizard that progresses at a combined 1.33 for every two levels (i.e. Fighter 10/Wizard 10 having an effective caster level of 13, and while capped at 5th level spells known/prepared, can bump spells up to 7th level in effectiveness -- 65% progression?) or a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Character Options

Isn't this an explicit "Your fun is wrong/bad" statement? One could argue the opposite for someone taking your position. Preference to use multiclassing to create a varied background character concept is just as valid as one's preference to stick to a single class and use backgrounds and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Character Options

The whole impetus behind 5e was to have a game that everyone playing at the same table could enjoy as their favorite version of the game, by allowing each player to bring their favorite edition's style into the game, at least from their perspective - to have players that preferred Basic at the...

Unearthed Arcana Crawford On Lots Of Stuff! Release Tempo, Video Games, OGL, Conventions, Unearthed Arcana, 2018, Tia

I know this is off-topic, but I'd totally pay to see this version of Episode VII over the new Fantastic Four...

    Who Makes WotC's Adventures?

It seems to me that this seemingly new practice of hiring these exterior studios to work on these products is akin to the prior, and likely ongoing, practice of hiring freelancers for projects. It's not so much outsourcing as hiring an established team of freelancers instead of hiring them on...

Unearthed Arcana Psionics Hits Unearthed Arcana

Back in 3.0, I used a psi-crystal for my fighter/psion PC - its creepy, spiker-like movements added interesting flavor to my character. While 3.0 included it as a class feature, 3.5 remedied this bug (no pun intended) by setting it up as a feat instead, which psions could select as one of their...

    D&D 5E (2014) Norse Mythos & Others in 5E

Deities and Demigods for 1st and 3rd, and Legends and Lore from 2nd, are all on www.dndclassics.com. I think they've taken the primary stance of using creative talent for new material, but use the older editions for any fluff that's still relevant.

D&D 5E (2014) I can use the Remarkable Athlete of Fighter in DEX SAVES ? Or only in Skills ? In Initiative ?

Initiative would qualify, RAW - it's entry under Dexterity explains that you determine initiative by making a Dexterity check.

D&D 5E (2014) I can use the Remarkable Athlete of Fighter in DEX SAVES ? Or only in Skills ? In Initiative ?

I'd rule no -- ability checks are categorized separately from saving throws in the rules documents (Basic and PHB), and described as actions taken by a character; saving throws aren't a type of action, more of a non-passive ability-related defense.

    [Beverly, MA] Looking for players - D&D 5E - Mondays 7pm-10pm

Our group is in search of 1-2 players that can commit regularly to a weekly Monday night game that usually runs from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM. We currently alternate between an ongoing 5E campaign that's spun out of an Isle of Dread campaign from the playtest, and a new 5E homebrew campaign that just...

Bedrock Games Co-Founder William Butler Passes Away

Hey Brendan - I met you after the service, with my friend Paul. My name's Walt - I hosted the Monday game Bill recently joined. We gamed with him on this past Monday - it came as quite the shock when I saw the Bedrock Games update on Facebook the other day - he had seemed fine when we saw him...

Bedrock Games Co-Founder William Butler Passes Away

I got to meet Bill at one of the Boston Gamedays last year -- I gave him a lift from the train station to FickleGM's place and played in one of the two Sertorius playtests that he ran during the event. He had quite the sense of humor and was a wonderful GM. After that, he e-mailed me to thank...

    D&D 5E (2014) Quirks & Exploits

My comment was more of a tongue-in-cheek RAW interpretation -- ruling-wise, I'd say it's DM's call, but I made the joke since obsessing over RAW abuse seemed to be the topic at hand. Sorry for any confusion.

Technically speaking, warhorses, riding horses, and attack dogs would all be unaligned, regardless of who claims to be their ally.

D&D 5E (2014) Hoard of the Dragon Queen (D&D Encounters version)

Why doesn't it make sense? The Basic Set is just that, the basic rules to play the game, in it's entirety, from level 1-20, with character rules, how to play, and the monsters to populate a game. Players can just as easily purchase the Monster Manual, if you're concerned that they'll sneak a...
