    [NSFW] Darkvision: Three-Step Process

I'd thought about that as well, but paragon paths are a way because they grant three new powers across various levels. As long as you can develop three powers creating a string effect to full darkvision, it would count. Or make some kind of alteration in power (such as prerequisite powers) to...

    [NSFW] Darkvision: Three-Step Process

...but those only cover specific characters. What about if you're a human cleric and want darkvision? What you have works as well, but how about for any character out there other than a dwarf? This exercise is for a generic way for any characters to gain darkvision using a three-step process...

    [NSFW] Darkvision: Three-Step Process

Work is boring. Gaming is fun. Work should be more like gaming. Not Suitable For Work is a new addition to Combat Advantage, the free 4e series of PDFs from Emerald Press PDF Publishing. Every month will have a theme to which any number of brainstorming exercises will be made. Each week or so...

D&D 4E Not Suitable For Work: A 4e Design Contest Idea

Good point. Skip the GSL thing but it will have to be something that will work with the core rules or any other material specifically listed. Like if Goodman has something coming out that could work with that month's theme. Anything that will work on its own as is, no house rules.

D&D 4E Not Suitable For Work: A 4e Design Contest Idea

Had a chance to sleep on it and revised the plan a little. Each month will have a theme posted in an edition of CA at the start of a month. This will allow everyone interested a chance to bone up on those rules and memorize as much as possible. Individual contests centered around this theme...

    Any 0-level adventure ideas?

If Scooby-Doo has taught us nothing, it's that you fight fire with fire. Have the PCs dress up a ghost themselves (for that scenario) and scare the goblins away. A nice skill challenge to pull this off, fight a few stragglers, and everyone has a good laugh at the end.

    Any 0-level adventure ideas?

That would be brilliant. I'm hoping to send my players back to a city they spent a lot of time in years ago and show them how much its changed since their actions. For these guys, it would mean even more to savour and reflect.

D&D Reversal: The players Control the Dungeon

Demons are the first to mind. Reckless with a huge swarm of them clearly up to no good. It would be a quick, easy sell to the players without any need for a huge backstory. If they're epic level (or paragon for that matter), toss in a name like Graz'zt and they'll have two hammers in each hand...

D&D 4E Not Suitable For Work: A 4e Design Contest Idea

At the moment, I'm thinking about starting each one on the first Monday of every month for sure to coincide with the release of each edition of CA, but I'm bound to that at the moment. I could post a brief concept of the topic with 48 hours notice or so (that amount is up in the air) then post...

Free Advertising on Combat Advantage PDFs

I just edited the text above. It just means that if a publisher wants to use CA to release a preview of any upcoming products, I'm good with that too. So long as the material is 4e and free.

D&D 4E Not Suitable For Work: A 4e Design Contest Idea

The terminology is a bit looser than how it's initially worded (which is why I wanted to start this thread before going through with anything). Where you do doesn't matter so long as it's without any references to verify. It's a test of memory and that means for the entire creative process...

Cohorts for 4e using companion rules?

We did rules for sidekicks as an April Fool's gag for Combat Advantage, but I think it works quite nicely.

*** Please note that I am still receiving all emails sent to warden@emeraldpresspdf.com. The error message you may receive is wrong and the email has not bounced.*** Combat Advantage is a series of free PDFs supporting 4e and we're looking to expand the series through advertisements. Rather...

D&D 4E Not Suitable For Work: A 4e Design Contest Idea

I'm looking to start up something here (but in a good way). I'd like to start up a monthly contest with a 24-hour timeframe to create something new for 4e. Anyone who wants to participate can do during that time but on certain conditions... 1. It must be designed at work/school or somewhere...

    Any 0-level adventure ideas?

Ever played Fable? Anything like the training phase of that game would work. And having the trainees find some evidence of the oncoming assault would foreshadow events and lead to their quest once they pick up a level.

1001 Tips for Winging It: A GM's Guide to Improvising and Cutting Down on Prep Time

    36. Use an impromptu wound system for hit points. If a player rolls 15 points of damage and the monster has 20 or so left, say screw it and let the monster die. I like to use the monster's Constitution score as a wound threshold - any damage higher than that amount is cause enough to ignore the...

Boy, Does It Ever Suck Not Getting Paid!

Crap, I was afraid of that. I take it that means the content is ours again as those contracts would be null and void by now. Little known treasures from the littler guys- a List

Cool, thanks. That one (along with Book of Alignment) was a personal project for me and the first one I've ever done. I've been thinking about doing it again, but it's a toss up between Pathfinder and 4e.
