The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Safe to say they'll be more powerful. Much more. But that's also because I'm thinking epic sci-fi for combat in this one. One guy against fifty kind of stuff. Then it's just a matter of providing nasty bad guys to make it a challenge one-on-one.

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Same, but I think mine is starting to look more and more like Mage. Never played it, but have heard that it basically allows you to come up with whatever effect you like so long as you have the right power level for it, or something. So far, I have twelve spell "categories," each of which is...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

I guess what I'm asking for is if we risk losing "points" because of insufficient material. If we're detailing new material for a new system and don't cover every single base within those 50 pages, are we being marked for the basic concept or being held to par with how perfect and detailed the...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Just how much leniency will there be in the scoring for these? I'm on page 26 and there's still the actual magic itself to cover, but I have a lot of material that could be expanded but will stretch my copy beyond 50 pages. For example, my submission uses biomechanical suits to harness the...

    Any news/updates on the GSL?

I don't remember where it is, but just before Christmas he said he was waiting for the thumbs up on the updated GSL. No approx. timeline, but apparently it will be more publisher friendly and open to terms from the Manual of the Planes and other upcoming books. Don't quote me, but that's what...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

What the hell, I'll chime in with mine. The mechanics haven't been worked out yet (too much Christmas stuff to do and I promised the little woman I would wait until the January 1st start date to get writing), but the setting and concept have been. It's called Ignition and involves the...

The Great Conjunction (RPG DESIGN CONTEST)

Any limits on how many people can have their name submitted with this? Co-writers, concept people, or is this just to be one designer only?

    PDF Book Printing/Binding

Not really. This is just from some random legal sources and a quick seminar on copyright issues in school (and I'm from Canada - we're a bit more lenient on these things). When it comes down to it, unless you have something in writing from the copyright owner, they will probably still say no.

    PDF Book Printing/Binding

Perfect bound requires a full spread file of the front + back covers with the side, bleed, and stuff that would be available from the actual publisher. If you're looking to use a web service and go perfect bound, you'll need to do some Photoshopping. Then there's the interior pages themselves...

[Emerald Press] The Quick Kill for 4E

Draped in shadow, your feet barely touch the floor as you move in for the kill. You only have one chance - kill your target and get away in a flash before everyone turns around and finds him standing there with a dagger in his back. Everything must be flawless, your execution perfect, and your...

Emerald press and the state of our 3e products

A somber good-bye to Campaign Options: Mazes. It is now gone. (insert moment of silence here) The procession now marches for Character Options: Commoners, available for free on all OBS sites this week only.

Emerald press and the state of our 3e products

Thanks, I am aware the EP website is down. I'm working on quite a few changes, even experimenting with the idea of NOT having a website. Looking back on how I did things in 3E, having a website seemed to have no impact on sales at all. That being said, would I still be selling 3E products...

Emerald press and the state of our 3e products

A part of me doesn't want to either, but all good things must come to an end, I guess. Still, considering the sales and the amount of work involved to get it up to OGL, it's just not worth the effort. I can still remember working away on Mazes - it was my first real freelance RPG job. Totally...

[Emerald Press] COMBAT ADVANTAGE #6: Reputation Feats - Coming Monday

Due to some technical errors with OBS, it won't be uploaded until Wednesday. If we can get it up and running sooner, it'll be done and I'll post the link here. Sorry for the wait.

Emerald press and the state of our 3e products

Since the 4th Edition of the Dungeons and Dragons™ was released in June of this year, our 3E products have pretty much ceased to sell. Aside from our free offering of Combat Options: Improvised Weapons and the occasional sale of a various $2 product such as Character Options: Attribute Feats...

A PDF store without a publisher fee or royalty cost?

Perhaps if we saw some more information - even the same stuff you're looking at - we could all make better decisions. I know that any time I've tried to set up anywhere else other than RPGNow, it's all been for nothing. But that no charge thing sounds good, but almost too good to be true. If...

[Emerald Press] COMBAT ADVANTAGE: Free PDFs for 4E

I've only tried out a couple in play, mostly paragon talents, but they have considerable differences compared to the standard power. They're mostly designed for non-combat purposes, particularly in skill challenges, so it depends on how often you're in non-combat situations. The Heal and...
