    D&D 4E 4e and Computer Games

I don't think he was referencing a MMPORG. More COD or Rockstar/GTA. Go re-theme GTA for DND. See how it goes. Actually, I just fell in love with that idea.

    Martial Dailies - How so?

Well, no, that's not going to give him an answer. Daily martial mechanics, if you wish to remove the idea of them being dependant on somesort of finite resource, are purely narrativist in form. Gnomeworks doesn't want narrativist play. The simple answer, then, is that 4e Dnd caters to the...

Richard Baker on Orcus and Deity Slaying

Well, I can understand why you think that way, and, ultimately, all of the classical polythiest religions had something that approached 'creator' over 'God'. The Gods of DND are God's in the original sense of the word, not the monothiestastic christian version, that translates God to 'creator'.

    Martial Dailies - How so?

Damn Straight. Whole system made me mad. Basic economics is not something open to change. Supply/Demand is actually an unalterable rule. 3e "economics" /spit was utterly, utterly broken. Also, well said. Martial IS a power source. Its not reflective of training/skill alone. It is...

    D&D 4E 4e and Computer Games

I'm glad Torment got a mention. Baldur's Gate, and its sequels, as we all Torment, are easily some of the best story-lines and gameplay I've seen in an RPG, independant of the system. NWN, in all its incarnations, was average at best. Story was just.. Meh. KOTOR 1 and 2 were very good, IMO...

    Roles

I doubt you'll get any true Hybrids. I think you'll get Classes who's archetypes fall into one of 2 roles, and while the abilities of the other archetype will be available, they won't actually be very good, outside of the chosen style. As opposed to be as good at both, but not as good as a...

What books describe a good magical world?

While a very good book, Altered Carbon doesn't actually come too close to dealing with the consequences. 1) It, like dnd, is hideously expensive, and most people have to wait years to get re-sleaved. 2) As amply demonstrated by the protagonist, its very easy to ensure somebody cannot come back...

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

I wrote a description of why poison and disease and other afflictions of the body can affect undead, in the undead have con thread. Personally, I think 4e, in its identification of the animus as a real part of a being's core, has given me the perfect tool. Diseases, and poisons, of all sorts...

Cross Class feat ability borrowing wildshape

This. Specifically, I think Michelle mentioned somewhere, that that taking of a power was feat based. Given Class features do not appear to based on feats or powers, but are actually inherent to the Class, I would imagine that Wildshape would not be available.

    Magical items

I have always tried, for generic + weapons, to leave 'magic enablers' as a generic treasure. Something that caries an arcane charge, can be used, by the right person, after much study, to imbue any given item, depending on the enabler/runestone/whaterver with a particular ability, which is...

    Questions after a playtest

AFAIK, all *monsters* with *natural* reach have threatening reach. Its only reach weapons that are not 'threatening' Which is relatively valid. If you are extending your defenses past your immediate square, to attack somebody 2 squares away, you should, really, generate an OA for all the...

    Bards: Arcane or Shadow?

Gurney is more a warlord with ranks in Perform(Balliset) or closer to the original norse bard source.. Having said that, I would generally say Gurney, in DND terms, would be a Bard/Warlord mutliclass. some of the rogue, some of the warrior. Lots of charm and class.

    Skills and the Planes

Er? More details required. They've essentially said the vast majority of the planes is more hospitable to life, these days. (in W+M) So no checks are normally required.

    Taking Prisoners

I honestly can't remember.. didn't 3x flavours have divine and arcane casters loss spells if knocked unconcious? Or was that just the earlier incarnations of the game? I've kept it in, anyway. Besides, All it takes is a bit of subdual beating to keep a tied character unconcious. Or some...

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

While a valid point for 3e worldisms, its not longer true of 4e. *some* people get an afterlife with their god. Most disappear.

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

Also.. In the above examples, for a revolt, the peasents should be attacking the clergy. Even a level 9 cleric will fall to a peasent army. It would take less than the mines.

    Questions about Scorching Burst!

Find me the assumption that a square is infinitely tall >.> But yes, I didn't step in, because I expect Revinor to be right, within the rules given. I've always ruled squares as cubes, regardless of all other factors, and extended facing in what seems a logical manner. But this is, obviously...

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

No 2nd level dnd character is poor. It is not possible within the framework of any of the adventures. If you want to play a character under a vow of poverty, thats different.. but even then, you're still allowed, under the old-school paladin rules to buy supplies and armour, etc.
