attacking an area a little higher: blasts and bursts in 3D

You can stack walls. Thats why they specifically have a height limitation.

    Disenchanting

I rarely hand out magic items. Sometimes, I'll have a character wearing it. More often, I'll hand out items that can be used in the construction of magic items. That's also how I'll be doing 4e. A gem imbued with elemental fire, suitable for placing in the head of a hammer/axe or the hilt of a...

D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

The fact you even wrote that indicates you have no actual understanding of what a minion represents.

D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

Facetiousness isn't relevant. The HP has been done to death. There is nothing inconsistent, nothing miraculous about the warlords 'healing'. At least, nothing more miraculous than watching a personal trainer or a drill sergeant eek that last bit of effort from a trainee or a squaddie. 4e...

    Why the demand for realism....

verisimilutude and realism are not the same thing. Verisimilutude is better conveyed as 'internal consistency' 3e is, IMO, marginally better in this. But most of the people naysaying verisimilutude in 4e always seem to pick things I don't have problems with.

    Disenchanting

Meh, I don't like the 'give them what they need' approach. I'm with Falling Icicle, on this one.. but 4e's major dissapoint, to me, is its once again bogus approach to basic economics. Fail. And fail hard. I'm rebuilding the economy. And given I've got a high commercial and industrial use of...

Where did my options go? - The New Paradigm

What does surviving on the streets, even as a pickpocket and petty thief, have to do with being a Rogue? He'd be a straight Wizard, who might, possibly, have the Rogue Multiclass, but most likely just has Thievery trained, possibly Streetwise. This is weird, it feels like arguing with ex-wife...

    Long Distance Teleport Rituals?

What, you mean, Stargates >.> I'm even going to have the dwarves make a Dialler, opening portals to places that haven't been touched in Millenia.

    Campaign setting for 4e

Worlds and Magic and the other book had a fair bit of flavour. I've based my campaign, for the moment, on Lyon, in france, with a 400km/side border. The town of Lyon itself is ruined, and nobody goes near it. (It is partly subsumed into the Far Realm now, and will be the major focus of the...

    Suggestions for Player Bribes

I try to write my characters backgrounds and actions into my storylines, and use them for hooks, etc. I only ask for a page, and I get no response.

    Targeting through allies.

Good call. I might houseroule that immobilized characters grant cover bonuses to all. I find it trite that they *don't* lose their Int/Dex Reflex and AC bonuses. Houserules, Houserules.

    No Animate Dead?

That's ok. I don't mind making its attack a minor, as you'll need to expend 2 minors to make it move and attack, anyway. (excluding a charge, I guess.) I'd rule no resistance to necrotive and that necrotic damage grants it temporary HP, but a vulnerability to Radiant. I'd also require that it...

    Targeting through allies.

I hope you mean 'around' or 'over' hong.. else I'm not sure I'd ever feel safe if my character was in front of yours. At least it creates good Keanu moments.

    D&D 4E 4e and save or dies.

Zurai, if you cannot see the difference between an attack that instantly kills somebody, and one that drops them to the dying condition, then the pendantry is obviously required. In anycase, there is a defined difference between this mechanic, and the 3.5 issues. I would agree that there...

    Knocking Godzilla Prone

Frozen or ice-clad wings make flying pretty damn impossible. I mean, its very similiar, in this sense to 3.5e, you examine the effect, how the effect would actually occur, then see what happens from there. For instance, Icy terrain would totally freeze the top of a lake. But for how long...

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

Er.. why? Honestly. What do you want to do that can't be done via the ritual system, or via good use of language/logic?

    The Star Pact Handicap

As far as I can see, it is an untyped bonus, so it does, indeed, stack, but (I don't have the books) I believe the pact boon entry itself indicates the bonus maxes out at +3?
