I need a little tactical advice, as a DM

Initial reaction: "So?". Let the PCs exalt in their new found power, well... endurance. Hordes of mooks are great for letting casters shine. Just be sure to smack them back with the occasional rough encounter, the type where they find themselves wondering if they should've run three rounds ago...

    D&D 3.x 3.5e Core Book Reprint

I would totally buy a new 3.5 Core set. Errata not overly necessary as alot of it was poorly thought out. Actually, I'd rather see a reprint of the 3.0 books. I would like a reprinting of the XPH, but no thanks to meshing it with the FAIL that was Comp Psi. Comp Psi had only a small handful of...

Is the cleric's "Channeling" ability a mistake?

In my group the clerics tend to use Channeling as Post Combat healing, similiar to using a Wand of CLW. Or in fights vs Undead. I have a slight problem with Channeling having to be toggled between Healing Living and Hurting Undead... why doesn't it do both? It would certainly be more useful...

I'm Sick Of...(D&D tropes that you can do without)

Strength: Warriors (all fighter-types being one class with composite traits to define them further. Favored Enemy, Martial Arts, Rage, etc can all be just fighter traits :p). Dexterity: Rogues (all types, such as thieves, ninjas, swashbucklers, etc) Constitution: ?? (all types). Intelligence...

    Dimension Door VS Schism

And we all know that special cases trump general rules. :p 1. independence or freedom, as of the will or one's actions: the autonomy of the individual. 2. the condition of being autonomous; self-government, or the right of self-government; independence: The rebels demanded autonomy from Spain...

    Menzoberranzan is Editionless... Good move?

I had been disinterested because I thought it was a 4e book. I am now mildly interested, but am skeptical about this era of WotC doing anything with the Forgotten Realms. I would sooner go find a 2e Menzo Boxset and perhaps the 2e Drow of the Underdark (both FR flavored).

    Dimension Door VS Schism

I agree that for whatever reason, D-Door was meant to end your turn. Schism works if your allies can act if they travel with you through a D-Door, "its" standard is still viable ("your mind splits into two independent parts. Each part functions in complete autonomy, like two characters in one...

    Dimension Door VS Schism

After using this spell, *you* can’t take any other actions until your next turn. D-Door only prevents the caster from acting further in the round, it says nothing about doing that to other travellers as well. My arguement is that your Schism is merely another traveller, albeit similiar to "you"...

    Dimension Door VS Schism

"Each part functions in complete autonomy". D-Door would prevent either side of the mind from continuing to act in a given turn, not both sides. Psion Standard: D-Door Move: nada, used D-Door and is done. Schism Standard: anything psionic, including another D-Door.

    Dimension Door VS Schism

If one mind D-Doors, the other is still free to act. Schism is an awesome power, one of the truely unique to psionics powers in the game.

Totemist has ruined me, or "Why Natural Attacks seem cooler than Weapon Attacks"

Medium BAB sucks. Aside from that, Totemists can be pretty badass. I once had a Warforged Totemist (tee-hee). Two slams (warforged feat for second) + four claws + bite (warforged feat) with Adamantine Body. Good times. "His" name was Nanite.

    Noob Warlock Question

You are absolutely right. And to reiterate, in my opinion this would raise the lowly WotC-Warlock up into "big boy" status. Sounds fun to me.

    The Mystic: Wizard/Psion base class

Ditto. Both cha casters are "behind a level" compared to their stronger counterparts. If 9th level Arcane / 9th level Psi can be "balanced" (silly term anyways :p), then advancing slower than either the party Wiz or Psi is a good start. A Gestalt Sorc | Wilder minus the Wild Surge would be cool...

    Noob Warlock Question

RAW: No (as explained above). RAI: Uh, dunno. Would I allow it: Yes. Warlocks are fun, but they are weaksauce. A warlock who got to throw his slightly weaker than Rogue Sneak Attack (but at far better range, and AoEs eventually) EB as iterative attacks, and perhaps even throw on Rapid Shot...

    Random thoughts on 2nd Ed.

My memory may just be fuzzy, but what you say here smacks of "that is modern thinking!". In my 2e days we often had no Casters due to poor the dice and/or people not wanting to start off so squishy. Fighters and Thieves can get by quite well on their own, thank you! It often meant running back...

    Silly thought on Monks

Well there is some disconnect there. A Titan is CR 20. Theoretically, so is a Monk 20. However a Monster with CR 20 is meant to be a threat for Four level 20 PCs. "Wait, what?" None of the mundanes is a match for a Titan. Titan is basically a pre-baked CoDzilla with fewer, yet still powerful...

D&D 3.x 3.5 alternate ways of handling favoured classes and multiclassing

Favored Class is a weak nod to previous editions. When demihumans could only reach a certain level in certain classes. Dwarves advanced furthest as Fighters (and couldn't even be Mages), Elves (iirc) advanced furthest in Wizard, Halflings as Thieves, etc. 3e swept aside the notion that the...

    Silly thought on Monks

Define "viable". A Monk 20 can be pretty effective against CR Appropriate Monsters, especially given an intelligently selected set of magic items. But a [insert Class X / Class Y / Class N / Class O, where X+Y+N+O = 20] can do it better (lets not even mention that a Wizard 9+ can probably...
