    Zombie movies

Shaun of the Dead was genius. Oddly enough though, i enjoyed the first half of the movie more than the second. The scenes at the Winchester weren't quite as funny or original, and the scene where they break bottles and have a "stand off" when Shaun's mother is discovered as bit, was sort of...

    Cry Havoc: Opinions?

I too would like to hear some Black Company input. I have it on order but it says it's weeks out from Amazon.

Attn: Users under the age of 20 (or thereabouts)

I'm 32, started gaming on and off when i saw the books my older cousins owned, then i picked up the Endless Quest books. I've taken breaks from DnD for years at a time, burned out i guess, but i've come back to the game because it's the greatest creative outlet i know: part storyteller, writer...

How do you deal with instant death?

I don't use resurrection in my Midnight campaign, so instant kills spells usually dump PC's into the negative and take them out of the fight, still with the potential of dying though. That said, they don't come up that often anyway. The one time it was a real problem was playing Return to the...

Call of Cthulhu d20 Preservation Society

As much fun as CoC one-shots can be, for a larger, overarching storyline, i would have to recommend picking up one of Chaosium's modules. Masks of Nyarlathotep is a great one, one of the best adventures i've ever read. Seriously, it's fun and creepy just to read from a GM's point of view. Beyond...

    D&D 3.x Help! converting 2E player kits to 3.5

Yes, most kits from 2e i think have already been converted to 3rd edition, or you can just as easily combine a few classes and then call it a "Stalker" or whatever. Dragon magazine i recall did this by showing an optimum mix of skills and feats and classes that would replicate a "kit" so to speak.

Who else is a maniac who cannot but tweak all gaming stuff?

Oh, yeah, i'm a tweaker. I like a lot of the ideas in the core rules (except magic and item creation) but then i see supplementary books with even BETTER ideas. I'm currently redoing the magic system for my Midnight campaign, but i'm implementing 3 or 4 systems of magic depending on the...

    Cry Havoc: Opinions?

I picked up Slavelords pdf mass combat today and skimmed thru it. It is highly condensed, logical, and best of all looks fun. I have Cry Havoc too but never got the chance to run it thru an actual scenario. I came away from that product sorta confused from all the number crunching involved; it...

    1st level forever: an experiment

I don't think you would want to leave characters at 1st level indefinitely. Improving skills is part of the fun. Dramtically slowed progression is probably a better solution.

Favorite scenes in -- Return of the Living Dead: Nude graveyard dancing, "Send more cops," "Send more paramedics." Night of the Living Dead: Initial graveyard scene, girl kills mother Dawn of the Dead: : Zombie walks into...

How "into it" do you get?

As DM i've gone overboard a couple times over the years. Once i played a psychotic lich trapped in Limbo who thought he was a diety. Family members upstairs wondered why i was shouting at the top of my lungs, "I - AM - A - GOD!!!!!!"

Looking for a slick Mass Combat System? Stop the Search!

I just picked this up after reading the reviews here (and already loving Grim Tales). I agree, i can't wait to playtest this. I have Cry Havoc, never used it. I wanted to but the complexity of the system turned me off. GT is much more streamlined and looks much easier to learn.

Call of Cthulhu d20 Preservation Society

Yeah, i don't understand Chaosium's business model at all. They put out some great products, but so infrequently i wonder how they even stay in business. Something works right for them though. Must be those wealth rituals they perform in the basement on full moons...

    The stupidest movie ever!

Sorry, but no one here is allowed to badmouth Pulp Fiction or we'll have to collectively get medieval on your ass.

    Earth Elemental Glide

I have a half gnome/earth elemental NPC that uses Glide just like that. Attacks from partial cover all the time, and often retreats to full cover.

Call of Cthulhu d20 Preservation Society

I agree. Levels and more hitpoints in CoC d20 only get out of hand if the GM allows it. It can be easy for unexperienced gamers to accidentally kill Cthulhu, but then they aren't playing CoC at all by that point, just some game with vaguely similar rules.

Running a C&C game with 9 year olds.

How funny. I would be a little intimidated trying to play an RPG with 9 year olds. They'll probably follow the same trends straight thru their adult years if they stick with the hobby. Munchkin loot-collectors from cradle to grave!

    The stupidest movie ever!

Howdy, I have to agree with others that i did not by any stretch like or enjoy Lost Highway. Was it BAD? Bad as in incomprehensible...yes. If i watch a movie for 2 hours i want to understand what happened. Could you PLEASE shed some light in your opinion as to what that movie was about if you...

    Halflings -- should they die?

i'll take any kind of halfling over DnD gnomes any day. Gnomes are just a mishmash of dwarf and halfling slammed together...

    The stupidest movie ever!

Oh, that's right. Avengers WAS awful. Forgot about that one. Eww. And i never thought Waterworld was that bad of a movie. Too expensive yes, hokey, yes, ripoff of madmax, yes...but BAD? I wouldn't say it was painful in the same vein as lots of other contenders.
