3 words. A - KI - RA. That movie inspired me more than anything else. Because of it, I even LIKE the psionic side effects (weird sounds, dust floating around, etc.).

I'm going to write up some basic ones: do extra damage, summon something, heal everyone, etc. Each character will use those as a basis for making up their own.

I've been looking at some of the super powers in Four Color to Fantasy by d20 press and I think some of them would translate very well into a Final Fantasy-style limit break system. Each character would effectively have one level of "Hero" with all their hero points spent on their limit break...

Does this template added to a human result in the mind flayer from the MM? That's probably a good benchmark for its powers.

Just use the stats for a rust monster and have it eat wood. It's your game and you can change things however you want. All my trolls are weak against cold and sonic damage instead of fire and acid. I didn't need to change anything else to get my PCs to fear them. :)

If you want to make a stronger golem, just build it with more hit dice (it costs proportionately more, but it may be worth it).

I was working on this exact same thing!!! Add in some mitigating factors... 100 day casting time requires 10 (or so) additional casters Does 10d6 damage to each caster every day Requires the sacrifice of 100 ordinary versions of the creature to be made a paragon. Etc. Could be fun.

Just multiply the DC by 5. It's in there.
