    We're back to AD&D1

Encounter based adventure design does not necessarily mean railroaded. There can be a huge number of alternate paths to the goal through different sets of encounters (though once you get beyond one or two paths it's best to flowchart it out). I think the 3e Expidition to Castle Ravenloft was a...

    Will buy.com get sued?

Not really. If they wanted to make photoshopping easy, they wouldn't have used a glass table that reflects the book's covers. Photoshopping in the reflection would be a huge pain in the ass.

Significance of Monsters Levels vs XP Value

The ratio is one standard to four minions.

    Wow... Encounters are quickly made.

Of course some 3e monsters aren't even runnable out of the box (dragons, for instance).

Significance of Monsters Levels vs XP Value

It would probably be fine. Possibly a tough encounter to be sure, but unless the party was low on resources going in they would likely prevail. As others have said, you can pit characters against monsters about 5 levels higher or lower without messing things up too badly.

Should I cancel amazon pre order and order from buy.com?

One thing to consider if you're thinking about ordering from Buy.com at this point: I'm guessing they may have some trouble getting additional books from WotC after this screwup.

2 questions: Combat advantage and cover and concealment

No. The last sentence of the Flanking section says, "You have combat advantage against an enemy you flank". It doesn't matter if another pair of people are flanking the creature, you have to be flanking it, which means you have to be adjacent.

    Multiclass only Classes

With the way HP works in 4e, I don't really see it that way. Lance of Faith and Sacred Flame, on the other hand, are really cleric-y. In terms of getting the rules to fit my setting well, quite I lot. The whole reason I've waited until 4e for this setting is that it seemed like it would be...

2 questions: Combat advantage and cover and concealment

Flanking requires you to be adjacent. They're in the attack modifiers table on page 11.

KotS_Zombies question for other DMs_Possible Spolier

Trying to escape is a move action. What else are you going to do with your move action when you're immobilized? :)

    Multiclass only Classes

No divine magic in my campaign (even with the serial numbers filed off), so cleric is right out.

Eladrins, Tieflings, Dragonborn Too Far Outside Standard Fantasy?

I haven't read much Vance or Leiber, but I've got a fair amount of experience with Howard, mostly his Conan stories. In his books non-humans are fairly rare, and when they appear they're virtually always presented as "monsters" rather than PC races. No elves, dwarves or hobbits. The closest...

Eladrins, Tieflings, Dragonborn Too Far Outside Standard Fantasy?

So are we going to get both Shifters and Warforged in the Eberron book? That's starting to look like a must-buy for me, even though I'm not planning to run Eberron.

Eladrins, Tieflings, Dragonborn Too Far Outside Standard Fantasy?

Werewolves are a big part of my homebrew, so I want to see a full race writeup for them too. I'm guessing we'll see a full writeup of Shifters in PHB2 or the Eberron book. A lot of the shifter racial feats may be adaptable to werewolves without too much work. That will mean waiting until next...

    Faith Feats

Well I just made a post about how I'm approaching it. That said, I'm thinking more along the lines of a cleric-lite, rather than just the ordinarily faithful. So what sort of benefits do you see the faith feats giving? In keeping with the strictly non-interventionist deity policy of my...

    You're Marked..how and what'sum'up?

The fighter is good enough at combat to harass an opponent like this without making himself vulnerable to other enemies. He can command an opponent's attention without having to give that opponent all of his own attention (which also nicely explains why the other classes don't get marking...

    Multiclass only Classes

I'm planning on excluding the divine power source (and it's associated classes) from my campaign. However, religion is still an important part of the setting, I just want religion without all the baggage of interventionist gods and sparkly divine magic bring with them. Instead, I want religion...

World setting, and your upcoming plans...

Homebrew all the way. The biggest reason I'm looking forward to 4e is that it looks modular enough that adapting it to my setting is going to be fairly easy.

Eladrins, Tieflings, Dragonborn Too Far Outside Standard Fantasy?

It seems to me that many of Tolkien's elves, particularly Elrond and Gladriel, are more Eladrin than Elf (in 4e terms). Speaking as someone who's planning to exclude all the non-human races, along with the divine power source and it's associated classes, most magic items, and probably a lot of...

    You're Marked..how and what'sum'up?

Actually, I think it's more like: Fighter: **swings his sword in a vicious arc that almost takes the monster's head off** Fighter: Aha! I just marked you! Monster: **takes a swing at the rogue, but has to pull his blow at the last second to deflect a strike from the fighter** Fighter: You have...
