Tell me about these older edition D&D products [list updated: Nov 20/10]

PLANESCAPE Hellbound: The Blood War [boxed set] This Planescape adventure ironically ties into the Spelljammer campaign setting. It seems that demons are working on chaosjammer ships, hoping to terrorize wildspace and the phlogiston as well as the material and outer planes themselves. The...

Tell me about these older edition D&D products [list updated: Nov 20/10]

Wildspace [SJA1] This was the introductory adventure to Spelljammer, designed to ease players into the new setting by literally scooping them off their planet and out into Wildspace. The main threat is the Eater of Worlds, a planet-sized machine built by the beholders to devour solar systems...

Does your campaign world have any "strange" races in it?

Two races from Dragon magazine have made prominent appearances in my Planescape 3.5 game -- the t'kel and the adu'ja. The adu'ja are humanoid plants, and the t'kel are reptilian humanoids who serve the adu'ja as a slave race (my back story, not the article's). One of the PCs is an escaped...

What do I need to play online

I second MapTool. We started with mIRC using MapTool only for battlemaps, but as the DM, I'm pushing the players to all move over to MapTool to make play faster. I also enjoy InitTool by the same website.

Peter Lee talks about Modrons miniatures

Has everyone forgotten that there were official 3E versions of the modrons? It was a web enhancement for the Manual of the Planes. You can download it here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/modrons.zip

    What Does the Title Mean?

Thank you! That explains the title perfectly and all is right in my head once again (for a little while, any way). Now I appreciate the title and can see its relevance. Interesting back story, by the way...and one that seems to lend itself to the 4E cosmology.

    What Does the Title Mean?

Well, that's kinda my point. One usually associates the heart with the lion. Since the author specifically wished to associate the heart with the eagle, does that have bearing on the adventure? The adjective "aquiline" is usually paired with a person's nose, so it's jarring (for me, at least)...

Stealing from 4e to use in other editions

I enjoy 4E, but I'm in the middle of DMing two 3.5 games, so I've simply been converting 4E characters/monsters to 3.5. They translate over rather well...slightly higher hit points, but everything else works out well. Translating over the powers saves me the hassle of having to choose feats...

    What Does the Title Mean?

If it's not too much of a spoiler, could someone in the know explain the meaning of the title "The Beating of the Aquiline Heart?" It's bothered me since I've seen it, and I can't decipher it. Aquiline means "like an eagle" or "like an eagle's beak." I can't find any other definition, and I...

    Watta Tweest!

I have a tendency to make things the heroes' fault. The heroes visited a world with a very small group of humans living in a vast, untamed wilderness. Delving into the wilderness's depths, they encountered a plant race who had been unaware of humans...and once they knew about them and studied...

Tell me about your D&D group

I am in two groups, and we've currently got three games going. Group #1 has been meeting for 6 years. Group #2 has been playing online for 6 years. Group #1: Male, 50, bus driver Male, 45, unemployed Male, 38, retail assistant manager (DM) Male, 33, factory worker (DM) Female, 33, call center...

How will WOTC prevent "group" memberships to DDI?

Pure speculation on my part, as I'm not in the "know"... WotC worked hard for an SSO (Single-Sign-On), ostensibly to consolidate the multiple screen names of users to track CoC (Code of Conduct) violations as well as cut down on forgotten passwords/emails for little-used accounts. However...

    Character and Monster Tokens

Since you intend to use MapTool, the best thing to do is create your own using TokenTool, available from the same website.

Warlock's Curse, Fey Pact and a Bag o'Rats...

It may well be that the teleport ability is line of sight only, so bypassing pits would be possible, but not circumventing walls or other sight-blocking obstacles.

    D&D 4E 4e previews due in December

I would say the preview article was green lighted well before now, and unfortunately no one edited it when plans changed. I KNOW I read somewhere that they decided to revamp the Dragon and Dungeon schedules, having each issue cover 2 months until 4E debuts...so issue 360 for Dragon was November...

    Core Setting: Nerath Empire

Was any information ever revealed about the two runners-up for the setting contest? I know the names of the three finalists were announced, but only Eberron was developed and released as a campaign setting. Could one of the two remaining settings be the implied setting we're getting glimpses...

What do you like about Planescape?

More than any other setting, Planescape requires thinking. Hack-and-slash is possible in the planes, but more often than not you're dealing with creatures vastly more powerful than your party. Everything has an agenda, and if you can figure out who needs what when, you'll survive to see...

    Bendy Dungeon Walls?

I second Xath -- I like them, but a couple of my hinge clips were broken. Not a big deal in my mind, but I haven't used them in actual play yet. In a semi-unrelated topic, although I don't see it anywhere on the Dark Platypus website, there was a gorgeous gelatinous cube mini at the Con booth...
