WotC WotC (Mistakenly) Issues DMCA Takedown Against Baldur's Gate-themed Stardew Valley Mod

The problem is that it wasn't a mistake. The DMCA is being used in an entirely appropriate manner in this situation. It's a clear infringement of WotC's material in the form of characters and their likenesses being used by another person for promotion and engagement. This is what the DMCA is...

WotC WotC (Mistakenly) Issues DMCA Takedown Against Baldur's Gate-themed Stardew Valley Mod

Yeah... An accident is "Oops I pressed the wrong key while writing aarbdark! Woopsies!" It isn't "Oopsy Doodles! I accidentally paid a team of lawyers and IP hawks to vigorously hunt down and launch DMCAs and legal cases against all potentially infringing activities and they "accidentally"...

    Level Up (A5E) Yuan ti

In fairness: The Nedraz are closer to Howard's Valusian Serpentmen than to the Yuan-ti. They could be used to fulfill that role, mechanically, with the story stripped away and a new narrative placed on top of them, of course. Though so could Elves.

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

Really depends on how common magic IS. Most battles would probably just be your standard set piece armies in a world that is slightly more magical than our own. But once you get into the higher and higher high fantasy with wizards above 12th level being kinda common... yeah. Things go -out- the...

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

So if I make a solid 40ft cube of cave ceiling turn into mud it falls and deals 4d8 damage to any creature under it. OR I could turn it into a 240ft long, 40ft wide, line of mud falling from the ceiling that deals 4d8 damage to any creature under it? 'Cause the spell only gives a damage value...

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

240ft length of road does not fit in a 40ft cube... It's not like you can dissect the cube, one 40ft square layer of 1ft of height to lay down at a time. Or are you suggesting spending 6 spell slots of 5th level or higher on it? 'Cause there is no upcast option, bizarrely...

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

40ft cube for a 5th level spell slot. Not terribly useful on the scale of armies marching long distances. Certainly not as useful as 8 hours in a 5 mile radius.

D&D General How the heck do you fight a medieval war in winter?

Fighting depends on Weather, not season. If there's enough rain, most armies went to camp, even if there was no snow, after all, because slogging through mud could cost you horses, wagons, and supplies. High winds could foil all but the heaviest siege weapons, too, rendering archers and other...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

McD's, Burger King, Wendy's, Chick-fil-A, Subway, Denny's, Perkins, Arby's, In-N-Out, Culver's, Five Guys, Cheesecake Factory, Sonic, Rally's, TGI Fridays, Jimmy John's, Dairy Queen, Hardee's... the list is a lot longer than I'm willing to spend more than 5 minutes looking for. The reason it...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

In parts of the South, Pepsi and other brands basically didn't exist even after they were founded. Everything was a Coca-Cola product whether you were buying it off store shelves or ordering it in a restaurant. "Coke" became a stand in for "Soda" in the same way "Xerox" was used to mean "Copy"...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

They are! Which is why North American English is more like 12 languages, going by your chart. Though, -really- these are all just very broadly defined Dialects of English, just like Scots English. Where the vast majority of words contain the same intentions, meanings, and definitions, but...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

The difference between speaking Elven and speaking Elthuvrian, language of the kingdoms of the Forest Lands, is practically nonexistent from a mechanical standpoint. At least in a game where the elves live in the elf lands. But the narrative impact? Hits a bit different. Especially when a human...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

Moving the languages into cultures helps, to some degree. At least now everyone raised in the "Deep Dwarf" culture knows common, undercommon, and dwarf... But what is "Dwarf" as a language except an example of a racial monolith spoken across the dwarf-related cultures? The VRC cultures all...

D&D General Languages suck in D&D.

None were remotely addressed. Mostly because it's meant to be "5e but More" so I dunno if it was even something considered or just one of those things where languages exist as they exist because they do.

Gate Pass Gazette April's GPG Sneak Peek

None of it is particularly useful in combat, obviously... but if you've got both hands and a map it'll help you find what's missing.

Project Sigil 90% Of D&D’s Project Sigil Team Laid Off

Two reasons: 1) WotC gets no more of my time or money than is needed to continue to do my job as a designer. 2) I just use Roll20 and making a 3d map set for my games feels as excessive as buying minis.
