    Gez's Arcane Nifties Gathered

Regarding the wizard staff rules: I don't like the "imbue spell" feat, nor do I like the free cantrip. What adventuring wizard could pass up using detect magic at will? He'd be worse than the Paladin! I'd also change the "arcane smite" spell such that it would allow the free touch attack...

    Using Poison Evil?

The fact is, morality in DnD isn't shades of gray. You are either evil, or not; good, or not. A couple of first level spells will tell you your status. Perhaps someone should make a list of all of the changes required to remove alignment from DnD.

For the love of God, we know about the Roman d20!

If they put a sticker on that thing they're fuXXOred.

Half human... but a bit shorter.

Why do they have to interbreed? Intermarry, yes, but you can easily say that a halfling and a human can no more interbreed than a lion and a bobcat can.

Say you find something nifty on the boards...

No, I'm talking about more fully-formed works. What I have in front of me right now is Gez's "wizard's staff" material, including a magic item and seven feats.

For the love of God, we know about the Roman d20!

A Roman MIGHT have lettered the die, given that the number 18, being written XVIII, wouldn't fit very well on a die face.

Say you find something nifty on the boards...

I'm thinking that perhaps, there ought to be a board policy that anything posted here is not owned by anyone; that if you post material here (rather than posting a link to where it exists elsehwere) you are publishing it "copyleft".

    Using Poison Evil?

Yes, as far as good and evil are concerned, the health and welfare of living beings is very important. Note that the question here isn't whether poison is evil, it's why using poison is evil. No, the basis for evil inherent in objects (rather than in their use) is based on magical effects...

How long does it take to throw a splash weapon?

I find that few adventurers walk around with flasks handy, so an MEA is usually required to draw it.

    Sorcerers making magic items

For some spells, first level is plenty.

    Mage Killer Bags

I would say that if an object that has a spell cast on it breaks (such as a tanglefoot bag) then the spell ends. This can be easily evaded by casting the silence on a stone that is then stick it to the bag. In order to be rid of the silence, the mage has to get rid of the stone.... which is a...

    Using Poison Evil?

Closed isn't the same as sealed. I've already said that splash-type weapons are related, in dangerousness, to poisons. IMC, they are packaged in such a way that that danger is reduced, whereas poisons cannot be. I wouldn't count paralytics, anaesthetics, and other 'innocuous' poisons as...

Let's say you do that, and the poster says, "Sure, go ahead." Then what?

    Using Poison Evil?

Moreso than a group known for having magical items? Yes. Moreso than a group known for having magic items that can kill if you merely touch them? No. They both would have the same kind of reputation. Moreso than a group known for using thunderstones or tindertwigs? Yes. Moreso than a...

Say you find something nifty on the boards. You want to include it in a D20 document you're writing. How would you list it in Section 15, given that the posting itself doesn't have a section 15?

[BoED Broken!] Do these two spells really cancel out?

That's how I'd rule it. Anyone immune to mind-affecting spells would not get the warning, they'd still take the damage.

    Using Poison Evil?

Adventurers are often feared in my game worlds, but a group known for using poison would be even more so. "Erm, would it be possible for you to find another inn to stay at, sirs? I mean, we have children about here, you know, and I know you'd hate for an accident to happen... what with all the...

    Using Poison Evil?

Paladin codes are not spelled out in the DnD rules. Some weapons are more likely to cause harm to innocents than others. Evil requires intention. Animals do not have intention. Have you ever taken any? "suffering" isn't just pain, either. A sword, arterial striking, and geas spells are...

    Using Poison Evil?

It's not clear, or there wouldn't be an argument. Don't you? So if you build a bomb in the shape of a brightly colored box, that will go off if the big red button on top is pressed, and bring it down to the local day-care center and put it in the pile of toys, it's not an evil act until the...

    Mini Carrying case

I use embroidery floss boxes for the rare occasion that I have to bring minis. Since I'm the DM, I bring minis for the monsters that the PC's are most likely to encounter.
