    Now they buy pigs

Well this trick is as old as dirt but it is amusing to see a group whose DM hasn't given it a RB turn...yet. That said I just had to add the following: Vincent: Want some bacon? Jules: No man, I don't eat pork. Vincent: Are you Jewish? Jules: Nah, I ain't Jewish, I just don't dig on swine...

About the myth or fact (?) of needing magical items

With regards to improved invis./flying mages etc, these spells have very little place in anything considered low magic, IMO, the same with scry/teleport etc. These are "high-magic" tactics and thus take a good amount of magic to counter. Magic begins to dominate battlefield tactics, much like...

About the myth or fact (?) of needing magical items

That is the key of it, many people talk about running low magic items and then stop there without examining what else needs to be changed. If the characters are going to be less "magical" then their foes will also need to be. Less invisible, ethereal, flying etc. sort of opponents. The fighter...

About the myth or fact (?) of needing magical items

For better or worse increased hitpoints is how most advances in dodging or parrying are show in DnD. It is not that the 13th level fighter can now take an order of magnitude more actual physical damage then when he was 1st level, it is that he is now more skilled in making most blows not be...

    [Iron Heroes] Magic oddities.

For purposes of modification I have been somewhat ignoring the 20th level abilities IH classes get. They seem to be oriented to provide epic level power without having to actually go there.

Song of the Blade [Iron Heroes]

I just downloaded it. I agree with the blandness critique. It is an idea that has been done a number of times elsewhere. I also have a couple of issues with some of the plots and how they relate to the NPC's. Nothing I can't change but as written there are a couple of logic holes. On the...

    [Iron Heroes] Magic oddities.

As I understand it that would only happen on a 1 (DC20 on a d20+10 roll so max failure is 9). Otherwise it just fails to come into being or you have a 30hd dragon on your side. For conjuration I am thinking about a DC increase. Alternatively many of the potential issues, like a basilisk being...

    [Iron Heroes] Magic oddities.

For me it is not the places arcanists are weak that worries it is where they are arguably even more powerful than a standard caster. Some of the schools are problematic at higher levels.

    [Iron Heroes] Magic oddities.

Driddle let's simplify this, if you don't like this discussion and have no use for it then "change the channel" there are thousands of other posts to go read. Griefing because you don't like the discussion is not kosher here on EN. What part of the below post do you not under stand?

    [Iron Heroes] Magic oddities.

So I am wondering if it was a matter of not enough time to implement changes suggested by play testers or if the play testers did not encounter the imbalances and potential problems in the casting schools with higher level arcanists. If it was the former maybe some of the play testers could...

    [Iron Heroes] Magic oddities.

Yeah I am less happy with WoTCs aquistion of Mearls now as it leaves the IH line without its deisgner. I really love this book but it feels like my choices are; burn time I don't have to rework the magic system or run a game with no casting types at all. It is just too bad, so much potential...

    [Iron Heroes] Magic oddities.

I guess my problem with it is the opposite, I wish the other schools were more toned down to that level than they are. I also find magical healing to be too easy, fast and reliable for a game that was not supposed to really have it.

Does Barbarian rage end if Barb goes unconscious?

I agree with the RAW here. Also it makes being KO'd a death sentence for Barbs above level 4 which is harsh IMO as rage is their class defining ability. IMC we use a houserule adapted from 2E that raging characters cannot be KO'd by damage, they still die at -10 but they keep going otherwise...

They are approaching the adventure and plot so sloooooowly

As long as you all enjoyed the travel sessions then all is well. As far as waiting on the plot, I have been there as a DM and it is hard to keep the secrets bottled up :) As far as players remembering plot points I usually will provide them with a summary sheet of things they have learned...

How we play the game: Character sheets

Heroforge all the way for myself and about 80% of our group. I tried going back to pen and paper when I started playing a fighter, as opposed to a more complex to keep track of character, but I found that after 2 sessions I was right back on the computer.

    Yet Another Leap Attack Thread

IMC we have been using it as an an additional +1 to the multiplier for PA(x1 goes to x2, x2 goes to x3 etc.) i.e. 1-handed weapon -1 to-hit=+2damage, for 2-handed weapon -1 to-hit=+3 damage. I realize having read the other thread that this is the most conservative interpretation but it has...
