    D&D 5E (2014) A Sense of Wonder in 5E

This relates to spoilers but I think it would also apply to recapturing the wonder of youthful D&D again, http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2011/04/27

Actually didn't they get bought and folded into what is now called Blizzard Activision.

D&D 5E (2014) Is there any hope for a evolutionary vs revolutionary Next?

I view 4e as more of a failure to make 50 million dollars a year or whatever the target goal from Hasbro was than as a pure failure of design.

D&D 5E (2014) Is there any hope for a evolutionary vs revolutionary Next?

From my experience I think Pathfinder is definitely an evolutionary step forward. I would love to see a PF 2e some day where they were not (IMO) restricted by backwards compatibility. Good point I did not mean to be insulting. I don't mean just what has happened to D&D in recent years but also...

What D&D Tool/App are you looking for?

I want what I have experienced on Google+ video conferencing blended with an excellent virtual table. I want the whole thing available on whatever the current generation of XboX will be; using voice, video if you have a Kinect and a linked an excellent virtual table top. To support the above...

    Dear WotC: Be Blizzard

In the sense that Paizo is not beholden to a large entity like Hasbro and can print it when it is ready. Also in the fact that Paizo has taken a previous genre/idea(3.5) and polished it to make their name and well deserved reputation.

D&D 5E (2014) Is there any hope for a evolutionary vs revolutionary Next?

The more I read on WotC and hear about type 5 or whatever it will be called the more I feel like we are headed to an attempt at an revolutionary jump. To me 1e to 2e was evolutionary. 2e to 3e revolutionary. 3e to 3.5 evolutionary as the numbering indicated. 3.5e to 4e revolutionary. I guess...

    Rule-of-Three: 03-27-12

The part on multi-classing is a bit worrisome for me. I have no desire to return to multi-classing ala the year 2000. IMO 4e multiclassing and hybrid rules as they stand now in 2012 are the most evolved and best version the game has ever had. I would hate to see a regression from that. I...

D&D 5E (2014) Hope for an open GSL?

Allowing old editions to exist with near official support ala Paizo/Pathfinder is a terrible business plan. Ask Apple, your device won't work with the new OS, oh well guess you have to upgrade to our latest and greatest, NOT we won't support you but here is the phone number of another company...

So does that make Paizo, Blizzard? :)

    Rule of Three: 20/3/12

Most of this one left me feeling less excited about 5e. It really does seem to be a regression to old style rules for the sake of bringing back players who started in the 80s. Fetishization/Nostalgia of old systems/experiences really seems set drag 5e back in terms of design. RPG game design...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo books on Amazon

They always nail the promised date with the WotC stuff I order, of course that maybe related to carrying a lot of Hasbro products.

D&D 4E Best adventures to introduce 4e with?

What do you think the best AP or adventures to introduce and hook players into 4e are?

What do you feed your dog(s)?

My empathy for those of you with recent passings. Our English Mastiff is fed a mostly raw meat/bone diet, with mushed veg that is in season, eggs, yogurt, and supplements to balance it out. She also tends to get whatever leftovers that are canine appropriate or those she can find that we have...

[Very Long] Combat as Sport vs. Combat as War: a Key Difference in D&D Play Styles...

Great discussion, it has made me think about the scope of dnd development. Personally I feel CAW was killed by 3E. Interestingly enough I believe that was the first edition with major marketing research to see how the majority of players wanted to play. Question: Do sandboxers and long time...

Seminar Transcript - Reimagining Skills and Ability Scores

Rolled attributes as default does not play well with face to face organized play at all or online play for that matter. Since a lot of new blood finds the game through organized play(if not what's the point) and I think online should be a healthy part of that too there will be the "default" and...

D&D 5E (2014) What big thing is supposed to be next week?

I am hoping they announce a partnership with Amazon to get the books and magazines in Kindle form. It would give me digital and them more control than pure pdf.

    Ranger (Archer) interesting feat choices?

I am building a Archer-type Ranger for a game that will not advance past heroic tier. What I am looking for is some more interesting yet still fun/cool feat choices other than the normal exotic weapon, weapon expertise/focus, chain. Basically I am looking for a build idea that uses feats for...
