New Legends and Lore:Head of the Class

I like the ideas Mearls is talking about here. Unfortunately I don't think 4e could have followed the essentials first path even though it might have been the proper way to do it as the backlash among the experienced option liking players would have been evn more massive. Maybe they can do this...

New Legends and Lore:Head of the Class

Beaten to the punch by TerraDave- I think it is best not to read these articles in a vaccum, in the previous articles he talked about having dials for complexity

What version(s) of D&D do you play?

Playing 4e and Savage Worlds right now. If the poll is correct it looks like a large number of the respondents are playing multiple versions of D&D. That is cool:)

    Multi-Edition D&D

I agree with the open source idea but I don't think WotC or Hasbro is in that mindset after 3e and the changes with the character builder. They seem to wan to keep tight control and to try to make a revenue stream off of subscriptions. The option that leaves them with is to take it to a good...

    Multi-Edition D&D

I agree with the general concept but I think the key is where is the profitable cut off. The analogy of 2e campaign settings is a good one, TSR tried to suit every palate they could think of. Some major market polling strength ans cash would have to be thrown into researching the current and...

Mearls' Chicken or the Egg: Should Fluff Control Crunch, or the Other Way Around?

I may have a hazy memory here but I seem to remember some of the research done before 4e came out that said basically people wanted to be free of built in fluff so they could make their own and not feel restricted by it. Perhaps 4e went too far in that regard but I can see it as a rock and a...

    Fourthcore has Died

Sadly I feel like I missed it having been away from the DnD scene for awhile. Can anyone do a quick summary of what the changes were all about? I will definitely check it out and I wish the author all the best going forward.

    D&D 4E AGoT with 4e?

I am looking into getting an A Game of Thrones based 4e game off the ground and I was hoping for some ideas about how to make combat grittier. Please try to refrain from "just use system x" etc. I realize 4e is not inherently very grim or gritty and AGoT may be a strange fit but I want to see...

AMpersand #400 Bill S leaving WotC (and others?)

Damn, I hope he stays in the RPG industry if that is what he wants as I like his work. Best wishes either way.

Comparing dice mechanics and how they affect flavor and style of gameplay

I remember enjoying calculating out some of the odds in Shadowrun or Cyber-Yahtzee as we used to call it:) It also had the statiscal anomaly of a target number 7 being as same as a 6 due to exploding dice so there would be flat spots in modifiers etc.

    Ranger vs Hunter ?

Hey all, I have been away from the table for almost a year now so I have missed the whole Essentials release and I am trying to catch up to the changes for an upcoming campaign. Specifically what are the pros/cons of playing a 4e Ranger vs a Essentials Hunter? Thanks,

    New Tag/Prefix for Savage Worlds?

Would it be possible to get a prefix for the Savage Worlds system? It would make it easier to find in the General Forum. Thanks

More than 4 at the table...

I don't have any suggestions for a fix yet but my group is experiencing the same problem 7 players is just too hard to schedule and take too long to wrangle in most of the systems we have tried. So far we have played 2e,3e,3.5e,4e and D20 Modern and run into the same problems.

    AP's for Savage Worlds?

Are there any adventure paths out there or mega modules that are written native to Savage Worlds? I am looking for something to save me the time of doing stat/rules coversion on APs written for other systems. Thanks

A simple idea to make EN World even better...

Well at least it spawned a very funny thread, manatees and all. I apparently lose at internet communication. My point was not to have it be an enforced rule but really in the end to just have people think about how much positive versus negative stuff they post that's all. Now unleash the...

A simple idea to make EN World even better...

That is where the spirit of the idea becomes important. As a ideal of adding creative things you think are cool and good to the community to help balance the posts that argue or rant. Making EnWorld even more creative and supportive of the shared positive imaginations we all game with. Do you...

What could a publisher sell you RIGHT NOW/

4e Paizo modules The any of the AP's redone to 4e and sold with all the maps and monster counters/figures you need. Basically a campaign in a box. I would pay $150+ for such a monster. 4e computer game A new version of Car Wars with plastic minis and some cool 3-d terrain.
