D&D 5E (2014) Tales From the Yawning Portal Needs a Sequel

What about an Abyssal adventure anthology visiting some of the more obscure layers of the Abyss?

D&D 5E (2014) Tales From the Yawning Portal Needs a Sequel

I'd personally be more interested in conversions of Dungeon Magazine adventures, which we got a few of in Ghosts of Saltmarsh.

D&D 5E (2014) What kinds of design space is there in alignments?

The Piety system used in Mythic Odysseys of Theros could work well for mechanically supporting alignment.

Spelljammer Hadozee: You got Starfrontiers in my Spelljammer!

Stormwrack! That was my first exposure to the hadozee. I had no idea at the time about their origins.

D&D 5E (2014) Journey BEYOND the Radiant Citadel!

So I noticed that, for whatever reason, they decided to make the entire book available in the full-size preview, which means that it's possible to download the entire book as a PDF for free (albeit with the text "sample file" across each page). Not a very good business decision TBH.

D&D 5E (2014) Speculation thread: Wonders of the Multiverse

That was what they were in 4E. Giants were still Large then, but there were also Huge titans. That might have been an inspiration for the Huge giants of 5E.

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Wonders of the Multiverse

The first thing that jumps to my mind is the 4E boxed adventure Madness at Gardmore Abbey, which revolved around collecting the cards of the Deck of Many Things and using individual cards to activate special abilities.

D&D General Rethinking alignment yet again

They might call themselves that even if they think they are right, though, and that "Good" isn't actually good. There are people who call themselves Satanists despite the negative connotations and the fact that they do not actually worship or believe in Satan, after all.

D&D General Rethinking alignment yet again

I was unaware of this, but it sounds fascinating. I need to look into it.

D&D General Rethinking alignment yet again

That's why I personally don't put much emphasis on Good and Evil when I DM or in arbitrating what is Good or what is Evil. I'm much more interested in Law and Chaos, which I personally find easier to define in a way that I don't think would step on many people's toes. To me, Lawful just means...

D&D General Rethinking alignment yet again

I'll go back and try to make my post as non-specific as possible, then, while still trying to get across that I think Gygax was influenced by a point of view that regards violence as good (and conducive to order) when it is applied to "the wicked" so that "evil" (which is conducive to disorder)...

D&D General Rethinking alignment yet again

I've dabbled in alignment debates before and arguments over how they should be defined, but at this point I think I'm more curious about what the original inspirations and intent for alignment were. We have several quotations from a 2005 thread on Dragonsfoot where Gary Gygax made certain...

Spelljammer What is Spelljammer, video interview with Chris Perkins

The use of the term "astral dominions" is particularly interesting to me as that was the term for the realms of the gods in 4E. Perhaps in the new Spelljammer astral dominions will be something along the lines of Planescape's gate-towns.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Presents a Radiant Citadel adventure play with an incredible cast, including Mathew Mercer.

I wonder if Malcanthet will ever get another official mention. 4E at least mentioned her a handful of times.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Presents a Radiant Citadel adventure play with an incredible cast, including Mathew Mercer.

I forgot about this and just happened to see that it's currently live. Interesting to hear that the demon Pazuzu apparently has something to do with this adventure.

D&D 5E (2014) Water Walk on the Elemental Plane of Water

Here's an idea: what if the surface described is just the interior of one of many absolutely massive bubbles?

D&D General what is the unifying theme of gnomes?

I kind of wanted to say this earlier myself but was afraid it would come across wrong. Still, I think it's true for me, too, even though of course not all gnomes are roleplayed this way.

D&D General what is the unifying theme of gnomes?

I got into D&D just as both Pathfinder and 4E were starting up, and since both Pathfinder and 4E went the route of gnomes being related to fey I've always had that as my conception for them (and therefore don't particularly care for rock gnomes, which are generally portrayed as more inventive...

D&D 5E (2014) Critical Hits and damage - What do you do?

I tried this houserule in a campaign and found out really quickly that an Oath of Vengeance Paladin can deal an absolutely absurd amount of damage with it.

D&D 5E (2014) Chris Perkins and Todd Kenreck Talk About Mind Flayers

I hope they do something to give the D&D Demogorgon a higher profile. As of now the Stranger Things creature named for him is what the general public (and DALL-E) thinks of when they hear the name.
