    D&D 5E (2014) D&D and who it's aimed at

For those worried that Gen Z wants D&D to be non-violent, take solace in the fact that I recently ran a short campaign for college students where three of the five PCs were bloodthirsty murderhobos, including a harengon (aka rabbitfolk) barbarian whose family was killed by worgs but believed...

Spelljammer Watch these preview videos -- SPELLJAMMER minis, Adventures in Space, Trailer

That's the only option that makes sense other than her being some kind of homebrew cyborg or whatever.

Spelljammer Watch these preview videos -- SPELLJAMMER minis, Adventures in Space, Trailer

I'm very pleased that they're using the Astral Sea for this since it'll mean I can make extensive use of The Plane Above: Secrets of the Astral Sea. I'm curious if the concept of the Outer Planes having their own fleets of ships in the Astral will make a return here.

D&D General [Nonfiction] [Review] Dangerous Games by Joseph P. Laycock AKA The Satanic Panic or Arguing with Morons

I have to admit I'm a bit curious what an adventure in DragonRaid is like.

D&D General DnD cosmology - Which Edition do you prefer?

4E World Axis, but I do think every setting should at least be able to have a unique cosmology. The main reasons I prefer World Axis: The Astral Sea itself is like a mash-up of Planescape and Spelljammer with gods having fleets of ships in the Astral. There's more freedom to have whatever...

D&D General WizKids Lolth miniature in the wild

Is it just me, or do the legs look more like creepy fingers than spider legs? It's an interesting choice... I'll probably pick this one up since it's about the same price as the Orcus mini and not insanely expensive like the Tiamat one.

Nintendo has also been doing livestreamed announcements called Nintendo Directs for a while now.

D&D 5E (2014) Is Dragons of Stormwreck Isle Based on the 80s D&D Cartoon?

Personally I appreciate having more options given for how to resolve an encounter with enemies without fighting, which is still always an option seeing as most of D&D's rules are about fighting. Besides, Wild Beyond the Witchlight is pretty much the only one that has significant support for...

DDAL Jasper DMs Call of the Netherdeep

I'll keep my eyes on this thread because I'm planning to run this eventually (and hopefully by then official minis for it will be out).

D&D 5E (2014) Kobolds are also from the Feywild now?

They already did that in 4E. Godlike elementals created Huge elemental titans, who in turn created lesser Large elemental giants. Hill giants in particular were noted to have descended from earth titans but had somehow regressed to the point that they lost their elemental nature and became...

D&D 5E (2014) Kobolds are also from the Feywild now?

Beyond one line in this specific interview I've seen no mention of kobolds being from the Feywild anywhere else. Plus, they did not receive the Fey Ancestry trait like goblinoids did in MPMotM. If kobolds really are supposed to be from the Feywild now then they've done a poor job of...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

True. Personally, I'm not against darker and more cynical media in general, but I do think there needs to be more sources of aspiration and positivity in pop culture to balance it out.

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

As for the optimistic tone, I think at least a certain portion of Gen Z and Millenial creatives have just suffered from doom & gloom burn out. Science fiction in particular has been mostly bleak and depressing for as long as I can remember (I'm thirty-three), but you can look back at the early...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

In terms of trying to get more cultural diversity into D&D this was a pretty brilliant move by WotC. Instead of trying to revamp older takes or publish one new D&D world, they've used this book to essentially create a new campaign setting where a bunch of different civilizations based on...

D&D 5E (2014) My Five Favorite Things From Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep

The Traveler's just a pseudonym for this guy. He's really a red-haired elven archfey named Artagan that at this point has pissed-off both Corellon and Sehanine.

D&D 5E (2014) My Five Favorite Things From Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep

The gods are the same ones as the "Dawn War" cosmology in the 5E DMG, with the addition of Raei (who is derived from Pathfinder's Sarenrae). Asmodeus, Bahamut, Bane, Corellon, Gruumsh, Kord, Lolth, Moradin, Pelor, Sehanine, Tharizdun, Tiamat, and Vecna are derived from the gods of other...

D&D 5E (2014) Call of the Netherdeep Previews

The last bit of the adventure takes place underwater in the titular Netherdeep. Not sure how much sailing is involved, if any.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Personally as a DM I rarely declare something good or evil unless I think it's something I think nearly everyone agrees upon. There's just too much variance in what people believe is good or evil IRL. To use violence as an example, I've seen all these different claims espoused in real life...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

I kind of miss how 4E's Open Grave explained undead by saying that creatures have both an animating spirit (animus) and a soul, and that some undead are sustained solely by damanged and tainted animuses (wraiths, skeletons, zombies, even ghouls) while others retain their souls in addition to a...
