D&D 5E (2024) What is With Poison?, and Other PHB Conundrums.

Yes -- Bastion rules in the DMG. A Sacristy (level 9) can make Holy Water.

(he might be both? -- I will go back and check.)

I'm pretty sure Laearthar is one of the stone giants that the Colonel used Banishment on in our fight in the main steading hall. I mean sure, he's still alive, but I am not sure it's a given that he'll side with us.

D&D 5E (2024) What old monsters should return to 5e?

Strip the associations of Lankhmar: there's always a place for Nehwon Ghouls.

D&D 5E (2024) How would you use studded leather wraps on polearms in 5.5E?

I agree that non-magical wraps would not meaningfully distinguish the weapon -- flavour is free. I think you could make a magic item: Leather Wraps (uncommon) When wrapped around a quarterstaff or club, this item allows the wielder to cast Shillelagh. Wisdom is the spellcasting ability for it.

AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) IC

The Colonel is charmed by how happy Donnell is, as they wander the inhospitable mountain pass towards the gate. Even Kahru seems free of previous burdens, as if he is finally in his element. Doc, of course, is Doc, but the Colonel imagines he even hear the old gunfighter whistling at one point...

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

With half an hour, Tommi will go back and dress himself properly. Put on his leathers, activate Oh-Six. He looks around for a more appropriate belt, but he can't find one, and so keeps the one he borrowed.

    Rewatching Bond films

I've heard this, and I really want it to be true. Bibi is the most unforgivable character in the series: I watched the film at age 12 or 13 in the cinema (my second bond film at the movies), and everything about it felt icky then and since -- I want Moore to be in the right here, but the...

    Rewatching Bond films

I believe it's the case that the technology for filming underwater was developed specifically for that film. Nothing like it had been done before Thunderball, and so they're really pushing it hard for the last 20 minutes of the film, which feels underwhelming today. There's some great stuff in...

    Rewatching Bond films

The problem with Moonraker is the villain, Drax -- an evil billionaire who is intent on genetically-selected humans forming a community in space is just so unrealis.... Never mind.

    Rewatching Bond films

I did a re-watch of the series in the fall. For me, The Spy Who Loved Me solidly holds its place in my top three (OHMSS and Goldfinger being stronger). Moore was my first Bond, and so I forgive him his acting, but I think The Spy Who Loved Me gets the formula right. You say it's straight...

Sorry -- Had missed the request for a roll. Is it Persuasion? If so: 1d29+8=15 (without advantage) or 25 (with advantage). [advantage would come from Help] I'm putting it here in case I'm wrong about what's being waited for.

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

As you note below, the description says it gives proficiency, whatever for the tool takes. You have proficiency with literally every artisan tool. as a common magical item, the size of a screwdriver. You make your choices. I disagree with you, but that's not the point. As a common magical...

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

Not at all -- As a common item, there is no need for any nonmagical Artisan's tools to exist, anywhere in the world. It appears to be written as a magic item that can be created like any other. As such, it becomes a must-have for most spellcasters as an Uncommon item.

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) IC

When Tommi climbs down (did he see anything of interest further?), he grabs an apple and takes a deep bite.

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

Magic Items Manifold Tool is way too useful -- it should be at least Uncommon; possibly Rare. Having a screwdriver that can brew beer, blow glass vials, and make a musket is amazingly useful, and society-changing if too easily available. Mind Sharpener should also be Rare -- it becomes too...

D&D Launches New Eberron-Themed Playtest With Dragonmarked Feats

The Greater Marks are all underwhelming. A small issue: In the Greater Mark of Handling, it says: "While mounted, immediately after you hit a target within 5 feet of your mount with a melee attack roll, your mount can take a Reaction to move up to its Speed or take the Attack action to make...

AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) OOC

Not inspiring leader, but as a Celestial Warlock I can give 15 THP after short or long rest or use of my magical cunning; plus 5 creatures get 9 THP at those times. If Gimlack has inspiring leader, these won't stack but onoy the best will hold.
