    D&D 5E (2024) So what's with 2024 and beyond?

Somethings never change, and clearly this one does. A bit, anyway. So it gotta be some other thing.

What Property That Has Never Had A TTRPG Adaptation Deserves one?

Holy crap yes! I had forgotten about that one! Hummm, Christmas is coming soon...

What Property That Has Never Had A TTRPG Adaptation Deserves one?

Sounds a bit weird, but I'd love a "The Adventures of Tintin" RPG. The "Supernatural" TV series has more than enough material to populated several RPG sourcebooks. There has been many homebrews and everything-but-in-name "My Little Pony" RPGs, but was there ever an official one?

I'm ready for a new Star Wars RPG

well, they got all this Mandoverse lore to publish a new post-RotJ era sourcebook if they want to. They'd be foolish to pass on that, unless they're waiting for Filioni's movie...

    D&D General Fixing spellcasting components

They are for many people (especially the “M” part), and many tables hand-wave components unless they come with an expensive gp cost (and even then, only on certain spells like resurrection). I don’t think OneD&D is going there but I could see components becoming an optional rule and if that’s...

    D&D General Fixing spellcasting components

I’m a bit conflicted on the whole components part. On one hand, if they are to be in the game, do it right and thoroughly. In that regard, I like the OP’s proposition; all spells are VSM except in a few rare-ish and significant cases where they are not. On the other hand, if VSM components are...

How much math should RPGs require?

Better get to Spatula City then. I heard they have a liquidation sale this weekend; buy nine spatulas and get the tenth one for a penny!

How much math should RPGs require?

What? No square root or exponential calculation? But how are you going to do realistic fall damage and calculate the dragon’s speed after five rounds of constant deceleration?!? Think of my suspension of disbelief man! I can only abstract so much!!!

How much math should RPGs require?

Any maths that starts to get in the way of the flow of the game is « too much maths ». Even in small increments, adding something like 14d6 starts to be a slog, occasionally fun for the « wow so many dice! » factor but tiresome when used regularly. High-level D&D is often « too much maths » for...

Making a Star Wars hack of The One Ring's system

Updated docs in OP to the current state of things. Special Reward Items are meant to take the place of Famous Weapons and Armours (Magical Treasures). Not sure about the balance of things, and armours definitely need rework. Also, not sure what to do with Valour and Wisdom tests. They come up...

Making a Star Wars hack of The One Ring's system

One of The One Ring's great contributions to RPG (in my opinion) was the Journey mechanics/minigame. Looking back, it was a bit patchy in TOR 1e but it still opened my eyes back then. It's better now in 2e, not to mention 5e adaptations in AiME and variations like EN-World's Level-Up. Thing is...

Making a Star Wars hack of The One Ring's system

Another game in. Things are starting to take shape... I'm realizing that I've played a lot of TOR 1e but never played or GMed (Loremastered?) TOR 2e, and I'm confusing more 1e into it than I thought I would. Interesting. Another change I brought to combat were about the combat tasks. TOR's...

Making a Star Wars hack of The One Ring's system

Witch King of Angmar, Darth Vader... Star Wars being closer to a fairy tale than true sci-fi helps with the transition.

Making a Star Wars hack of The One Ring's system

Obviously, some things had to change. That was to be expected. Still, the essence of TOR is intact, at least I believe so... Focus was shifted from Cultures to Class Archetypes. Star Wars isn't very culture-oriented, or at least, I wouldn't know where to start. And Star Wars has like a gazilion...

Making a Star Wars hack of The One Ring's system

[UPDATE 2024-09-02] Here's my master document I'm using for our games. This one is (almost) without images so it looks a bit dry, but my own version is fully illustrated (with a bunch of images I do not own, taken over Pinterest and whatnot). If you're reading this thread for the first time...
