What is the most simple RPG?

Interesting. BUMP until I get enough sleep to respond. :D

What is the most simple RPG?

I found the Fast Play Rules for BESM. Pretty neat actually. The skills make it a little more complex, but not much. Although it is simple to roll low vs. the stats, I prefer the "add stat/skill modifiers to a die roll, trying to score higher than a target number to succeed" task resolution...

    [OT] LOTR swords

Trust me. If you like Role Playing Games, you DON"T want her. She hates D&D! Everyday I am assailed with snide remarks that the tons of useless junk I have would make a great penny on Ebay. But if you must have her, please take the debt too, and i will call it even. :D To be honest, I don't...

    Free-Form d20

RPGs are flexible enough to play diceless. Want a real challenge? Try playing Monopoly or Yatzee without any dice or randomizers. :D

The finest Oriental Adventures site ever.

This one should be more entertaining. www.ninjai.com (EDIT) Darn! They took down the chapters until June 1st, when they will add 7 more chapters for a total of 12! These are some good videos to watch and it is a shame they are down for now. At least the trailer is up. There still is other...

    [OT] LOTR swords

I have Sting. It is still in the box until I can build a nice display case for it. Wifey-pooh got it for me for Christmas. :)

    [META] Too many OT threads?

Maybe. But shouldn't this thread should in the Meta Forum? :D

What is the most simple RPG?

Re: Re: Re: What is the most simple RPG? I probably have half the work done already. It just isn't typed. :) Thanks for the replies so far everyone. I knew the cops and robbers LARPing would come up. Actually, my first incarnation of playing D&D was when I was 8 or 9 was actually pretending...

What is the most simple RPG?

In my quest to find a simple RPG, designed for newbies or idiots like me :D, I have seen various game refered to as rules lite or light. My question, what are they and why are they easy on the rules? These are the ones I have seen mentioned from various sources on the web, in no particular...

    The Illusion of XP

AMEN! I so wished the WOT "system" came without the specific setting info, but of course a motivated DM could lift the mechanics with a little, (ok, a lot) of work for his own setting. Here is an interesting idea from the Who still plays Basic D&D thread. And then Geoffrey responded: This...

    Who still plays Basic D&D?

Now, THAT is a stat block I can handle. :) Thanks for the email. I might just sign up for the mailing list. I am on the AQ mailing list, and have been for a very long time. Things always seem more "civil" than on message boards. I am growing tired of some MBs lately. If you like D&D, in any...

    Animal Characters

I got this idea from checking out the Pokemon Adventure Game. (RPG). You play the role of the trainer. You have no stats for yourself. You have cards for the Pokemon you possess, that do have stats to have battles. But this can be expanded to include other things. Imported to D&D, you could...

    Who still plays Basic D&D?

Thanks, Thorvald. I had lost that SF link when I imported my favorites improperly. Glad to have it back again. :) I would love a copy of the chargen info. wdsmithjr@hotmail.com anowack, thanks for the info on Starflung. I had casually checked it out in the past, but am heading over to give...

    Where is unconsciousness

Wow, I really like this rule, (armor converts to subdual). I like the CON bonus thingy too. I would prefer PCs to be knocked unconscious rather than outright killed, as capture, torture, ingestion, and slavery are a much better fate for our heros. :D

    Who still plays Basic D&D?

As much as I would love to see this product, I know it will never happen. Even though you and I would think it a good idea, I doubt both the consumer masses or the WotC marketing dept would. ALTHOUGH, it would be a great gateway, and marketed right, in bookstores and toystores and department...

    Who still plays Basic D&D?

Geoffrey, I really like the XP table and distibution concept. I used to have SF on PDF, but don't remember how the XPs worked. Anyway that is a wonderful concept. That is pretty close to what I have been looking for, to ditch the standard 3e method, and go in a rules lite direction. Thorvald...

Standard Characters and Power Levels in The D&D Campaign

Ryan, I feel the same way you do. In an attempt to head in a "rules lite" direction, I just come up with the concept, give the ability scores, ranks and skills I think would be appropriate and go from there. No BAB, no bonuses to saves, feats are very limited( one or two depending on the...

    Animal Characters

What happened to EN World, folks? Someone starts posting threads to incite creativity and disscussion, and then everyone stats bashing them. Just because mmadsen has several threads going at once, all about RPGing, doesn't mean he is trying to gather free market research. It could mean that he...

    Who still plays Basic D&D?

BINGO! That is exactly what I think, too. It is so easy to make a basic version, but it really isn't like Basic D&D being a different game, as it is an abridged version of Core Rules. Geoffrey, I like some of your ideas. I never used alignment, either. One thing that interests me is your XP...
