    Basic 4e style. Thoughts?

Yes! That is exactly what I intend to do. That came to me when, after trying to read the PHB and loosing interest cause it seem more like a reference book than a rulebook, I started reading the power cards posted elsewhere here and things started making sense cause I was only taking small doses...

    Elven Accuracy

Interesting. That is some serious out of the box thinking right there.

    Basic 4e style. Thoughts?

Ah, that is a good idea. Truth be told, I am not a fan of the Fey Step. I am used to Dimension Door being a spell that takes a magic user many levels to get. I can't say I am comfortable with the Fey Step power. BUT, a combo of the two races might also help to make the "Elf" class I am looking...

    Basic 4e style. Thoughts?

Not necessarily. When I say "Basic" I am thinking of a concept that would be most beneficial to new gamers, as the red box sets were designed. With the very little I have seen about comparing 4e to BECM, level 1-10, the heroic tier, seems to come close to what Basic and a small bit of Expert...

    Elven Accuracy

Bare with me. I am still putting these rules together. Thanks in advance fore your patience. Maybe the wording isn't clicking with me. So, looking at the power card, just so I have this right, it is supposed to work like this: Only once during the encounter, (listed as an encounter power)...

    Basic 4e style. Thoughts?

Any particular reason why? I wouldn't be against it, just curious. Since I was looking for a way to introduce someone, (especially me ;) ) to 4e, this would work too. I have been reading the rules and it is taking me some time to get them through my head. In some ways I have to forget certain...

    Basic 4e style. Thoughts?

I keep clamoring about what the starter is is not. It is not a Basic set like the ones my generation had back in the early days of D&D. Well, instead of complaining, what if I cribbed together my own version. Well, the truth be told, I have almost no experience with 4e. I don't even like some of...

    Elven Accuracy

When I was reading this power I couldn't help but wonder, shouldn't it be that you take the higher of the two rolls? Why would you take the second roll even if it is lower if as an elf you are supposed to have superior accuracy?

I just played my first Rules Cyclopedia based game

I had a huge post that somehow got deleted cause the forum logged me out while I was typing it. :.-( Here is the nutshell. 1. Use henchmen and hirelings. CHA is not a dump stat. 2. B2 is excellent. 3. Avoid the "optional" rules in the RC for a while. 4. If still worried about lethality, start...

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

Melan posted this over on the Knight's and Knaves Alehouse, but I find to so true that I have to reiterate it here. So true. I really can't think of anything more to say at the moment.

D&D 4E Now that people have played it... Is 4e hostile to hex ?

I say forget hexes and squares, get a measuring tape, and do exactly this.

This is where most of the info about the game and players can be found. Only the last 4-5 pages are recent enough to worry about.

This is just the monthly bump. We have four players and a DM. The DM (cadriel) hasn't checked in for a few days but I still assume our game is on. We have for our OD&D dungeon crawl: 1 magic user 1 dwarven fighting man 1 female paladin 1 cleric All 1st level.

Howdy. I don't know why I didn't see it already. I must have skipped over this forum for a while. I will check it out. As far as the OD&D game, looks like we will be having our first session on March 13th somewhere in Moorestown. Not sure if the DM wants anymore players, but anyone...
