Seeking gamer in South Jersey area for D&D 3.5 game

Hey RM2. I didn't know you lived so close. While it would be impossible to play every Tuesday, is there any chance I could pop in once to meet you guys? There are not a lot of gamers in this neck of the woods.

    Making Your Characters Unique

This sounds a lot like secondary skills from the AD&D 1st edition DMG. You rolled (or picked if you rather) from a list of professions to determine what the character was prior to becoming an adventurer. It was very broad, (things like sailor, navigator, forester, farmer, etc.) and had no...

    Making Your Characters Unique

Many times I won't bother unless it comes up "in game." Funny enough that I should just read this now. I was looking through SPI's 1st edition of DragonQuest a few minutes ago. During character generation, there are a couple of things you roll randomly for that define your PC. Your Aspect is...

    D&D 4E 4e Spell Casting Questions

Interestingly enough, even in the older editions of D&D that I still love, spell casters did not gain a new "spell level" at every "character level" Not exactly, but if I were to do the math, I would think that averages out to a new level of spells at least every other class level if not further...

    D&D 4E 4e Spell Casting Questions

The only thing with the speculation is that the Wizards crew pretty much said BAB is gone. Interesting things are to come from this.

    D&D 4E 4e Spell Casting Questions

Hum. I did some digging. Apparently, saves will go something like this: Using the 4e preview card of the spined devil Say you want to cast a spell that would save against REF. You would roll a d20, add "something" for magic (not sure what, maybe INT bonus, maybe a level modifier, maybe some...

    D&D 4E 4e Spell Casting Questions

I haven't even considered saves. Need to read more about that before comment further.

    D&D 4E 4e Spell Casting Questions

Since the Vancian Magic Sacred Cow appears to be almost slaughtered, I was wondering if 4e was going to overhaul spell casting and the whole spell level scheme. I looked all over, both here and WotC boards, but couldn't find the answers I was looking for. 1. Are "spell levels" going to now...

Reminds me of the wizard in Conan the Barbarian. ;)

    D&D 4E Casual DM - 4E made for ME

As I am curious, other than the stat card that was used for WWDDGD, are there examples or a consolidated list of what things are going to make 4e an easier to prep game? I see a bit here or there but has anyone actually compiled a total list? I still think another was to capture the casual...

    Who owns SPI games?

Low and behold it came today! I was pleasantly surprised to see a GM screen in the box along with the starter adventure and the Maps of Alusia book.

Once you go C&C, you never go back

As one of the contributors that helped design C&C, I can say that this is the most prominent (and benign for conversation here) reason that after I played the final product for a little while, it just didn't feel close enough AD&D for me to enjoy. It is not bad on its own legs. But the final...

Hey, WotC: Give Dwarves their Darkvision Back

I like this change too. In fact once upon a time, in the OD&D three little book set, NONE of the PCs had infravision. This 4e change sort of goes along with what I did in many of my Classic D&D games, were dwarves have a low-light vision and elves have a sort of enhanced distance vision (think...

    And the mystery race is...hated

I would have rather they cut the extra races and gave us more classes, like the bard. In the very slim chance that I do pick up 4e and run a game, there will be four race choices, elf, dwarf, halfling, and human. Hum, oddly enough that is just like OD&D and Classic D&D, my games of choice. ;)

    Who owns SPI games?

I have had TSR's 3rd edition of DQ for a long time, but I can't remember which box I have it packed away in. I read some of it once, but most of the online DQ fans said it was very watered down and not worth the effort, and to just get the revised 2nd edition (which most online DQ fans I talk to...

    Who owns SPI games?

I just bought Dragonquest from someone and waiting for it to arrive. Back in the 80's my friend Pete claimed DQ was the best RPG ever created. I never got to try it though (I was a TSR snob ;) .) I am looking forward to seeing what the hype was about.

what to do if you gave too much power?

Perhaps there is a zone that negates power of the item, or drains it of magic, henceforth rendering it a mundane item.
