D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

No. It is more epic fantasy than survival fantasy. Maybe it's to help the tie-in to the wargame rules? Curious how this will play out

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

Exactly...it almost seems as if they are gearing up the setting as a potentially deadly world...almost as deadly as Dark Sun.

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

No, I get it...it just makes KoS Battlemasters almost a must have. I always take pause when there's a significant power jump like that.

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

Why would anyone want to play a non-Knight battlemaster? I am not fond of this. As I mentioned earlier, I was actually fine with the using Hit Dice mechanic

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

Doesn't bother me any, and I like them. I didn't like their tie-in to the Feywild because it basically threw out their origin. Seems kind of generic now, but not too bad overall. I think they are going for a happy medium?

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

They changed up the Knights. They now all get maneuvers and superiority dice. Wow...could be a potential windfall for Battlemaster fighters... Edit to add: I was kind of liking the idea of using Hit Dice to do some of their abilities. Wonder why they got rid of that...

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

Looks like it, yes. They changed the Taunt to what I do with my Kender (disadvantage to attack any other creature except for the Kender).

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Heroes of Krynn Revisited

Looks like they got rid of the Fey Kender origin.

The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

Four little letters...FLGS It's really very simple. Pick up games, one shots, etc. For many years, the FLGS was the only place I could get together and game, and I met some wonderful friends there along the way. Once ran a one shot and had an entire party of the little buggers (it was amazingly...

Dragonlance More DRAGONLANCE Information: Kender, Battles, W&H's Novels, & More!

And you would know know all about that since that is precisely what you are doing here. Yes, close to 100 players since 1985. Maybe that was too complex for you to understand...not surprising. I spent many years running Dragonlance as my main campaign world. Not too difficult to believe there...

Dragonlance More DRAGONLANCE Information: Kender, Battles, W&H's Novels, & More!

There were two...or are you talking about the one you were in? There was one there briefly, and a large part of a story arch where you met a large number of Kender who were fighting an army of Draconians and Ogre. Oh...conveniently forgot because it doesn't fit your narrative...got it. Over the...

Dragonlance More DRAGONLANCE Information: Kender, Battles, W&H's Novels, & More!

Ah, there it is. Yet another strawman. If you go back and read through my comments...move your lips if you need to...you will see that I stated that I clearly don't understand the hate because in all the time I've DM'd Dragonlance, all 30+ years of it, I have never once had a problem with...

Dragonlance More DRAGONLANCE Information: Kender, Battles, W&H's Novels, & More!

Thanks for proving my point. If you read the racial description of Kender, part of their culture is the lack of understanding of personal property. And your extreme and, honestly unimaginative, hatred of them further proves that my statement earlier was accurate. It is no longer of any benefit...

If they don't like standard Kender, then play an Afflicted Kender, or even a Marak kender from Taladas. I find the extreme and xenophobic hatred for them to be tiresome and unimaginative, to be honest.

No, but it's baked in mechanically that their inventions have a good chance of blowing up and killing the entire party. I don't see that as any better.

Dragonlance More DRAGONLANCE Information: Kender, Battles, W&H's Novels, & More!

I wouldn't say anything, because I would nip it in the bud at the beginning of the campaign when I set my expectations as a DM...doesn't matter if they are Kender, dwarf, or elf. I will again reiterate that in the 30+ years I've run D&D (Dragonlance being my favorite world), I have never...not...

Dragonlance More DRAGONLANCE Information: Kender, Battles, W&H's Novels, & More!

Any good DM at the beginning of any campaign will place expectations for his campaign. This is in no way any different. It could be as simple as "No evil characters," or " No drow Driz'zt wannabes." A good player who is a fan of the setting and who understands the childlike nature of Kender...

Dragonlance More DRAGONLANCE Information: Kender, Battles, W&H's Novels, & More!

Again, you quoted the relevant passage: "All of these lines are delivered with an innocent sincerity that is all the more maddening because the kender really is sincere! A kender might not necessarily remember where he found something, even if he picked it up half a minute before, and such...
