TSR paid $1,000,000 for the Dragonlance logo? (New: Response from the authors)

I've emailed both Margaret Weis and Tracky Hickman, let's hope they'll be able to shed some light on this mystery. If not, perhaps they can point me in the direction of the right person to ask :). I didn't want to email the artists directly, since we don't know who exactly designed the final logo.

    Polymorph and Vow of Poverty...

Umm... why would you think this was a way around the vow? How is it trying to "cheese" out of it. How is it a loophole, or any such thing? Am I missing something? I just don't see it being abusive in any way. Can you explain your meaning?

TSR paid $1,000,000 for the Dragonlance logo? (New: Response from the authors)

Good to see so many responses. Personally, I don't think they paid 1 mil for the logo. They may have paid a mil for the entire Dragonlance corporate identity, but not for the logo alone. Perhaps that was going to be the charged amount if they used the ID, but chose not to use it because of the...

TSR paid $1,000,000 for the Dragonlance logo? (New: Response from the authors)

I was digging around the Noble Knight store website and I came cross this interesting tidbit TSR hired a national advertising company to come up with the new logo. At a cost of $1,000,000 they were presented with these 3 different variations. (click on this for link) As a graphic designer (of...

    Polymorph and Vow of Poverty...

Does a polymorphed character keep his Vow of Poverty extraordinary abilities? Alter Self mentions: "You keep all extraordinary special attacks and qualities derived from class levels, but you lose any from your normal form that are not derived from class levels." The intent of the effect I...

Globe of Invulnerability: 10' radius sphere on a gargantuan creature?

Meaning it goes out an additional 10' beyond the creature, regardless of size? The problem is that's not what the spell says :(. I think yours would be the "common sense" answer, but it's not what's stated within the spell.

Globe of Invulnerability: 10' radius sphere on a gargantuan creature?

This may seem like a dumb question... Globe of Invulnerability has an area of a "10-ft.-radius spherical emanation, centered on you", but what if a gargantuan creature cast the spell?

    Xbox 360 Users?

Yep. Waited five and half hours in line at Wal-Mart on the night of the 21st, a bit of a pain, but it could have been much, much worse. They had 28 premiums... and I was number 28 in line, lucky me :).

Persistent Spell, Heightened, and other metamagic oddities..

Persistent Spell metamagic feat (Complete Arcane) says: "Spells with a fixed or personal range can have their duration increased to 24 hours." My question is this... is Range: Touch a "fixed" range? Also... If an Incantrix (Player's Guide to Faerun) with the Improved Metamagic ability (which...

BoVD: Major Artifact... I could use some help toning it down.

In the Book of Vile Darkness, there is a major artifact called "Angelwing Razor". I introduced this in my now epic level campaign, and I'm seeing that one of it's abilities breaks the rules too much. "Angelwing Razor is a +5 vorpal longsword that ignores damage reduction and hardness of any...

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

If it's just flavor, why have in-game effects for breaking the code? 3rd edition when out of its way (for good or bad) to get rid of "flavor" and to put that in the DM's and player's hands. The paladin's code of ethics IS in the class description, therefor it IS part of the class.

Billd91, thank you for getting my point.

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

*sigh* My point was not to bring up moral relativism, or to bring up my own ethical values. It was simply to keep things on target. D&D and the paladin's code within. To relieve the fears of those that now seem to think I'm some sort of maniac... Yes, I have my own set of beliefs as to what is...

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

I just don't see the point of bringing real-world morality into a discussion of D&D.

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

That's why I'm trying to keep the discussion on D&D, a game. I'm not trying to discuss the crusades, the holocaust, or anything else from real life. The issue at hand has nothing to do with those things, but people insist on bringing them up. We are talking about D&D, not something else, let's...

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

To you and me it's evil, but I'm sure someone somewhere will disagree. Take this point to any philosophy department in any university and see what answers you get about clearly defined good and evil. Every person has a different idea of what right and wrong are; everyone has a different...

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

No need to be insulting. It doesn't help your point. I don't think any of these DM's (or myself) is interested in bringing down the paladin, etc. I, like most of the people here probably, am interested in having a good game and following the rules of the game. If the paladins code of behavior...

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

Comparing D&D archetypes to real world professions and beliefs is useless and futile. The two have nothing to do with one another. The crusaders had their own drives and motivations that have nothing to do with paladins as defined in the players hand book. They were as un-paladin like as you can...

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

Umm... she HAD been assaulted, past tense. There was no current immediate danger. By that logic, why not simply kill everyone everywhere and let the gods take care of who is good and bad? Why have any consequences at all? Kill them all and let god sort them out? Yep... very paladin like.

The Paladin killed someone...what to do?

Why is the slaughter of the halfling the only means to protect his family? The halfling is not directly assaulting his family, he is not an immediate threat. Arrest him, turn him in to the local authority or the paladin's own church... that takes care of the threat quite nicely. That's what...
