Wish via a Spell-like ability, any limit on XP spent?

I believe in this situation that the PC's helped a good creature (the Noble Djinn) and it wants to reward the PC's for their good actions. So there's no forcing or coercion involved.

    English Majors and Poets...

Yeah, I've been goolging the heck out of poetry... just haven't found quite what I'm looking for. I may go with the latest bastardization I have: Elven-maids there were, Shining stars by day: Their mantles white were hemmed with gold, Their shoes of silver-grey. Stars were bound upon their...

    English Majors and Poets...

Some of you are mentioning poets, but not specific poems (or parts of poems). I'm fairly uneducated in such things (my degree is in Graphic Design), so I wouldn't know where to start within the entire works of a poet.

    English Majors and Poets...

Wow, some great suggestiosn guys! Here's what I have so far... it's from The Two Towers, the Song of Nimrodel. I changed it to fit this a bit better. What do you guys think? Elven-maids there were, Shining stars by day: Their mantles white were hemmed with gold, Their shoes of silver-grey...

    English Majors and Poets...

In the Forgotten Realms timeline it mentions: 1230 DR The Year of the Long Watch: Elf-maidens out for a pleasure outing are never seen again. This becomes the basis for the epic poem "The Long Watch". I would like to have some sort of handout that has the poem (or a part of it). But, first, I...

    Musical raging bard?

What about circumstantial minuses or other such things? What if the character is affected by some magics and has a bunch of minuses to Perform checks? Bardic Music doesn't care... because there is no Skill check involved at all. It isn't using a skill.

    Musical raging bard?

It's the difference between writing and using calligraphy. One is simply writing, the other is using a skill. Using an instrument, singing a song, etc doesn't equal a perform check. Just like with Ride... riding a horse under normal circumstances doesn't call for a Ride check. If you're riding a...

    Musical raging bard?

In the SRD it clearly defines when character is using a skill: "Using Skills: When your character uses a skill, you make a skill check to see how well he or she does." If there is no skill check involve, it's not a use of a skill. Is it a "performance", sure, you're doing something, but it's...

Wish via a Spell-like ability, any limit on XP spent?

That's just the thing, it is within the description: When a wish creates or improves a magic item, you must pay twice the normal XP cost for crafting or improving the item, plus an additional 5,000 XP.

Wish via a Spell-like ability, any limit on XP spent?

Ouch, that could easily get out of hand. Any ideas on how to DM this?

Wish via a Spell-like ability, any limit on XP spent?

A Noble Djinn can grant three Wishes, it doesn't mention that it's a Spell-like ability, but it seems like a reasonable assumption since the Efreeti's wish-granting ability is a spell-like ability. Spell-like abilities do not incur XP costs from the spells they cast. The only limit on creating...

    Musical raging bard?

I agree. A friend of mine disagrees though (we're each DM's of our separate respective groups). He thinks since Bardic Music requires a minimum Perform score, that common sense dictates you'd be performing while using it... and raging doesn't allow for the use of charisma based skills...

    Musical raging bard?

Can a bard/barbarian, or a bard that's cast the Rage spell, use his Bardic Music ability (if it doesn't require concentration) while raging? Bardic Music doesn't require a Perform check to use, so I wouldn't see it as a problem. Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone knew the answer to this...

Where can I finded cheap mounted riders minis?

$3.75 is still ALOT of money, especially if I want 20-30 riders or so. There has to be a cheaper solution out there... no other suggestions anyone?

Difficult decisions for a monk trying to do the right thing...

Well, the monk is Exalted, so there may be some issues there... Also, he has Vow of Poverty and is high enough level to have the True Seeing ability, so he'll be able to spot the loths.

Where can I finded cheap mounted riders minis?

I'm looking to get a bunch of mounted riders miniatures for a large-scale battle event I have coming up, anyone know where I can pick some up cheaply? Mounted figures is one thing that the pre-painted D&D minis have been sorely lacking in (there is one, but he's a rare). Anyway, all help...

Difficult decisions for a monk trying to do the right thing...

Why would it be odd? Yugoloths are the mercenaries of the Blood War, it's a role they've chosen for themselves. What's in it for them? Whatever they can get out of the contract, items, gold, information, promises of service, etc. It's also of little risk to them, if they know what force they'll...

Difficult decisions for a monk trying to do the right thing...

Though I think I agree with you... theoretically, just consorting with such creatures corrupts you, no? Is it not better for you and your allies to die unsullied than to fall to corruption? Can we not assume that the yugoloths have some greater evil in mind, and that by dealing with them we may...
