Gears of Revolution: A Zeitgeist campaign

Session 1: Long Night Ahead "There's nothing quite like a fish out of water. It flaps about, clearly uncomfortable and trying to return to something familiar and safe. Kinda like constables thrown among the nobility, really..." When RT3 had made themselves respectable, they too moved into...

Crowd-sourcing revisions of the Intro Pack

The Axis Island map on page 20 of IaAoW includes locations marked with the letters A to E. As far as I can tell, the adventure gives no clues as to what those letters mean.

Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

It hadn't quite gotten to the stage where I needed to give too much thought as to how to deal with it. If it had gotten that far, I would likely have gotten the Flint police involved and broken up the brawl. After all, there were lots of them standing nearby at the checkpoint and they're not...

Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

New session report posted. Unfortunately, due to some bone-headed hardware mistakes on my part, we didn't get to start the session until about an hour later than we planned. I had hoped to get up to and conclude The Sabotage encounter in the first session, but instead we called it a night...

Gears of Revolution: A Zeitgeist campaign

Session 1: Crowd Security "I remember how everything began. Flint's streets were crowded with people - locals and visitors alike - eager to celebrate the launch of Risur's greatest triumph. Of course, there's always those who don't see things the same way as everyone else. And them sort of...

    Rewards

    Salary per PC in a 6-person party (for an inherent bonuses campaign) is: Level 1: 487 Level 2: 620 Level 3: 860 Level 4: 1313 Level 5: 1767 Level 6: 2433 Level 7: 3100 Level 8: 4300 Level 9: 6567 Level 10: 8833 Calculated as {2*(Value of L+2 Item) + (Value of L+3 Item) + 2*(Value of L+0...

    Rewards

Gideon, my figures are for a 5 person party, and I'm not sure that you can simply adopt them for 6 PCs. Your best bet would be to check the inherent bonuses rules to see what extra treasure gets awarded for the 6th PC and adjust the formulas in my spreadsheet accordingly. If you're not excel...

Adventure 1 (TIatAotW) Questions - SPOILERS

18 just seems too high. Using the Crowd Security challenge as an example, and assuming a trained character with a +4 attribute, they have a 60% chance at succeeding per roll. If every check in the challenge is made on that basis, the PCs get a total of 9 successes. But once you take into...

    Rewards

I'm planning on using inherent bonuses for Zeitgeist, so I've done calculations for levels 1-10. Spreadsheet attached, but I calculate that each PC should earn the following amounts at each level. Level 1: 448 Level 2: 576 Level 3: 832 Level 4: 1216 Level 5: 1600 Level 6: 2240 Level 7: 2880...

    Pixels/square of Battlemaps

That would be grand. Ultimately, maptool is only the endpoint. All the work involved is to get the image to 50 pixels per square. Once you've done that, you just import the image into maptool and move the grid around until it sits neatly on the image's map lines. PS. I'm using the blue...

Adventure 1 (TIatAotW) Questions - SPOILERS

My main concern with the skill challenges is the DCs. The first challenge has a default DC of 18, which is one off the hard DC for level 1. With a DC that high, there is a very real risk that players will learn not to even try unless they're trained in the relevant skill and have a good modifier.

    Pixels/square of Battlemaps

But why the difference between 28-odd and the 37 Morrus suggested? I assume there's some compression in the image in the PDF? Can you try the hedge maze map that Morrus posted in the preview thread and see if you get 37? I get 34.7

    Pixels/square of Battlemaps

Is anyone else getting weird results with these? @OnlineDM ? The coaltongue map I extracted from IaAoW seems to be approx 21pps. The hedge maze map from the IaAoW appears to be about 19pps. The copy I took from Morrus' battlemap preview thread appears to be approx 35 pps, but neither of them...

    Our Party

Glad to hear that session 0 went well! An excellent way to introduce the PCs, El Perro and firearms.

    A few battlemap previews

As mentioned earlier in the thread, OnlineDM and I will be resizing some of the maps for use in MapTool. I'm using a map from Mad Mapper for the confrontation with Dalton & Co, but I've resized the Coaltongue map (attached) to be approximately 22 pixels per square. It's not quite 22, but it's...

    A few comments

"Rarely does an adventure path make you wonder if it's too good for your players. Zeitgeist does."

    Our Party

Indeed an awesome party. If your players are willing to put that much effort into character generation, I think you're going to have a blast with Zeitgeist. Interesting that both our parties ended up with one PC "in charge". Did your group have to be prodded that way or did they do it voluntarily?

You have only hours to wait...

+1 to everything said above. Very pleased to see my name in the playtesters. Any chance of having the map jpgs posted in the subscriber area, Morrus? I believe you've already posted most of them in this forum, except the Coaltongue. And d20Monkey, any chance of those pixels-per-squares you...

Unfortunately, I cancelled this week's session 24 hours ago. Oh well, this'll give them 7 days of anticipation.
