Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

Session 16: Revelations Session Summary: Erik moved to bind and search the unconscious shadowy figure as Tok moved slowly toward the church’s entrance. Meanwhile Thornt called Wilheim aside and the two of them commenced a ritual that would send Gale’s canary to RHC headquarters for help. Erik...

    One-handed Invokers ?

Someone has to hold the the torch, lantern or sunrod. Seriously. I've lost count of the number of times my players have looked blankly at each other when I ask who's holding (or has a spare hand for) the light source...

    Halfling Fighter Help

What's the benefit of that? Why not just wield a rapier and a light shield with Weapon Focus? You'd have the same damage, AC and Reflex but a spare feat. Of course, a tempest fighter would change things, but we're not talking about a tempest fighter.

Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

After all the drama of last session, a healthy payoff for the PCs this session. Full report to come in due course, but for now I'll just say this: "What's the best way to confirm a suspicion? Have the changeling impersonate MacBannin and wake an unconscious Creed".

Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

Session 15: Old Faith Session Summary: One of the attackers gestured with his wooden orb, and the sunrod Wilheim held aloft instantly filled with darkness, then exploded in a flash of searing cold. In the sudden confusion, Tok stuffed the recovered documents into his clothing and Erik...

    ZEITGEIST The planes in Zeitgeist

I've been thinking more about my Zodiac killer sidequest, and am thinking about timing each of the killings to align with a time when the associated plane is strong. For example, Jiese is "particularly strong" when the PCs climb Cauldron Hill in adventure two, making it a perfect time for the...

    Maybe I just need some sleep. . . .

This thread probably has your answer, but I'm not sure if you've changed your method since the AP started. If you're interested in a more mathematical look at it, the attached spreadsheet has numbers up to level 8/9 for: Item value GP per party per level GP per PC per level (assuming 5 PCs)...

Adventure layout question - redundant ship rules

I wouldn't be disappointed by this if I were you. I think it's one of the best things about the adventure: that the PCs can take different paths and still arrive at a successful conclusion without it feeling anything like a railroad. It might be frustrating from a writing sense (write 4 plots...

WotC announces 'Rise of the Underdark' campaign

I don't think WotC do them any more. This is akin to the Abyssal Plague international event from (last year?), a series of themed releases at the same time. More of a marketing campaign than a D&D campaign, really. Not that I disapprove, but I understand your confusion.

Adventure layout question - redundant ship rules

The quick play pdf sounds like a good idea. Can't offer any feedback on the naval rules because my players aren't up to that stage yet (and in fact look like missing the smuggling subplot in Adventure 2 altogether).

ZEITGEIST [ZEITGEIST] The Continuing Adventures of Korrigan & Co.

The dirigible sounds like a story Rock Rackus would tell. Are you planning to combine the two characters?

First post with a question about the crit rule.

The ranger interrupt that imposes -8 to hit can very easily turn a crit into a plain hit. Disruptive strike, I think it is. But except for such powers, non-crit natural 20s are indeed very rare.

Can I make multiple extra melee attacks with one crit?

Hit points is an odd one because it's inherent to the hp system that they stack. Bonus attacks stand alone as far as I can tell. Everything else is trigger X causes bonus/penalty Y. When it comes to bonuses, the + and the - imply stacking, but I can't see anything that implies 'stacking' for...

Can I make multiple extra melee attacks with one crit?

The conversation seems to have moved to a discussion of consecutive basic attacks from consecutive fritz, which is a different question to the OP's. On the original question, my view is that neither the item nor the feat specify that the free attacks are stackable. IMO, the mere fact that you...

Gears of Revolution: Notes on my campaign

10 to 15kg, yeah. I might have overestimated a little (the informant was a lower-class thespian after all), but I figured that a race with an average height of 6'5, an average weight of 123kg, a metabolism that creates fire/lightning/acid etc and teeth that appear to all be incisors probably get...

Gears of Revolution: A Zeitgeist campaign

Session 13: Twin Dragons Almost as soon as the manor’s guards allowed RT3 through the gates, the constables found themselves surrounded by armed and armoured Risuri soldiers. Their leader, Lieutenant Dale of the 4th Regiment, stepped forward and demanded to know why the investigators had been...
