Is summoning creatures to spring traps an evil act?

That is, in my humble opinion, freaking weird.

Is summoning creatures to spring traps an evil act?

Awesome summary, Saelorn! That is indeed where I'm coming from. I've got to wonder though: Does the intent of watching good things suffer counteract the Good influence of the spell? In other words, is using that kind of magic explicitly for evil acts enough to counteract the Good act? Because if...

Is summoning creatures to spring traps an evil act?

That's the weirdness I'm getting at! Apparently that is a capital-G Good act!

Is summoning creatures to spring traps an evil act?

Don't be absurd! There's no "summon orc babies" spell. It would be wildly inconvenient to gather them by hand!

Is summoning creatures to spring traps an evil act?

Heh. Now I want a lemming-themed Druid that specializes in throwing herself / her minions into certain doom.

Is summoning creatures to spring traps an evil act?

As illustrated here. I think the least evil option might be summoning neutral creatures...?

Elves, Humans, and The Little Rascals

I've got a longer post on the subject over here, but here's my question: In cosmopolitan settings, you've got long-lived races like elves and dwarves living side-by-side with humans. It’s awfully difficult to picture these kids growing up together. I mean, what would The Little Rascals look...

How would you choose a philosophy in D&D world?

Oh I dunno. It's one thing to believe in a miracle. It's another to witness one fireball a rival cleric in the face.

How would you choose a philosophy in D&D world?

If you can cast fireball or speak to plants or get a sweet deal on a demonstrably real afterlife, I think there's incentive to make a conscious choice.

How would you choose a philosophy in D&D world?

I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of a level 1 commoner. I'm in a fantasy world. Multiple different philosophies, traditions, and religions all seem to produce miraculous results. Which would you choose to follow? How would you choose? Comic for reference.

Do you multiclass for raw mechanical power or for character reasons?

For real? What if you want a bear-barian, that goes into a rage in bear form? What about the build I mentioned in the OP where you go all-in on eldritch blast alpha strikes? There are some things that you can ONLY do with multiclassing.

Do you multiclass for raw mechanical power or for character reasons?

Not sure what you mean by this line. Are you saying that playing with single classed characters is 5e on hard mode?

Do you multiclass for raw mechanical power or for character reasons?

What it says in the title. When you're looking at some silly build like the Sorc 5/Warlock 5/Fighter 2, do you try to justify the multiclass in-game, or do you prefer to ignore the fiction and concentrate on eldritch blasting all the things? Relevant comic.

D&D 5E (2014) Dealing with stupidly high rolls.

Excellent points! Let's take it a step further though. If a DC 40 is an "impossible" check in the system, then characters capable of rolling that 40 can achieve more dramatic results than their less-skilled peers. This ought to feel exceptional. When you push the system to the extremes though...

Upgrading your old mount/companion/familiar: How to say goodbye to your old pal?

How did you convince the un-charmed horse to do your bidding?

D&D 5E (2014) Dealing with stupidly high rolls.

I thought that "bounded accuracy" would help us to eliminate stupidly high numbers. Things like pass without trace and the rogue's expertise seems to undermine that idea. How do you deal with the difference between "you do the thing" and "you do the thing spectacularly well" when spectacular is...

Upgrading your old mount/companion/familiar: How to say goodbye to your old pal?

That's the 5e approach, right? Interesting... I hadn't thought to apply it to Pathfinder.

Upgrading your old mount/companion/familiar: How to say goodbye to your old pal?

So this tragic mess is happening in my Pathfinder game right now. I want turn trade in my old owl familiar for an imp, but I've grown attached to the ornery little feather duster. I don't want to tell my best bird bud, "Hey, you've been great, but the newer model is out and you've got to go." Is...
