    List of Broken Powers

Consecrated Ground. AKA: The PCs can't die. Best fix is just not let it work on unconscious PCs. Making it actually grant regeneration may also be a good idea, as written they stack (this is less of an issue now that healer's lore doesn't apply). Note: If nerfing this one I'd also throw the...

    Optimizing my Dragonborn Thaneborn Barbarian

You can do 18 Str/18 Cha, but you'll pretty much need to take chainmail (and ideally scale) armor feats.

    Dungeon Master's Guide 3?

I'm pretty sure the D&D marketing people decided this was a no-go, as the names just don't work for new players looking to pick things up. Very likely to see the same sorts of books with different names, though.

Defenses and To Hits for Your Party ~ Averages

This was pretty well known in 3E, as well. It's why power attack was changed in 3.5, for instance. It worked best via 3.0 rules when you have lots of attacks, but conceptually it was for the guy who made big reckless swings. Since hitting was everything the penalty to hit wasn't generally worth...

Sneak Attack--Help me stop my DM from banishing it!

If you're giving the ranger constant CA you should most likely spend the feat on Distant Advantage. Then they get it from the same source as the rouge: flanking and teamwork. Without that it's a pretty big stretch for a ranged PC to have constant CA. Or, better yet, just use a melee ranger with...

What exactly does "not seamlessly" mean

No, knights can totally take fighter powers. It's just that the only powers they get are utilities (which can come from the fighter list). If you had some other way of getting class powers (human bonus at will and paragon path bonus encounter, for instance) you could take fighter powers.

Parcel Distribution: Missed Parcels & Creative Income

The 'baseline' parcel I generally shift around so that the PCs find all of them, and if they miss one or two it's usually gold/potions. However, I also have 2-5 sets of 'optional' treasure ready to go at any given time. These serve as rewards for clever play, going out of their way to search...

Sneak Attack--Help me stop my DM from banishing it!

Avenger damage is actually a bit spiky, but in an awesome way. Their high crit chance means it's less of a 'hit hit miss' and more of a 'hit hit crit' curve. An avenger with a big high-crit weapon, last time I saw the math done, comes out pretty well if they're always triggering the re-roll...

    Fighting the Undead

Str/Wis melee/ranged build? Just having sacred flame means that he'll be really useful against undead, since it deals radiant damage and they tend to put out nasty save ends effects. Though their Cha may be a bit lacking as they raise in level. Sacred Ground is pretty much a 'we win' button...

Question about an elf ranger build

The strange thing about warlocks is that most of the really meaty support is in dragon, while most other classes generally get the most out of their X Power books (or players handbook). You can take feats to make curse damage both brutal and 1d8. You can regain missed encounter powers at the...

Defenses and To Hits for Your Party ~ Averages

So, what six feats are all better than +2 to all your attacks, especially the ones that trigger teleports to get away from your aegis target and your punishment attacks from triggering aegis?

    Fighting the Undead

Did you trade out for healer's mercy? Or are you just taking lots of powers that heal rather than looking for radiant damage? Those things are a well known abomination of 4E design, easily among if not the worst designed creatures in the MM1. It's a problem with that specific monster, more than...

Best 30th level executioner assassin one-turn damage?

Why are you a half-orc? Be a githzari and use their racial paragon path ability to auto-crit on your next attack, then pile on the most damaging one shot poison you can with an action point assassin's strike and high-crit weapon and one of your at-wills. It costs you a lot in average damage (no...

    Fighting the Undead

As stated above, the undead you'd one shot in earlier editions would be best modeled as minions in 4E, meaning you'll still be one-shotting them. On top of that, a cleric has almost no issue getting all radiant powers, which almost all undead are vulnerable to. There's even a feat that lets...

Defenses and To Hits for Your Party ~ Averages

Shielding? That's one of two builds in the entire game where hitting things isn't really a big deal (shielding swordmage and hosipliter paladin). So yeah, I can see skipping them in those two cases. They're extreme outliers, though, and I still want to know what other feats are actually more...

    Character Builder has been Updated!

More to the point, lack of support for house rules is still on the known bugs/issue list. So it's in the pipeline. Just a question of when, if ever, they finally get to it.

    DDI January Content Calendar "Online"

The reason they have the calendar, and deadlines on a monthly basis, is because they're trying to make 'magazines'. Each article still has page numbers and is intended to fit together as a whole. But it's pointless. Does anyone print out the entire thing? I'd guess not. Some people may download...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

What about the time spent in the past? Did they return after the same amount of time had passed? Sounds like 13 months in Charagin has passed since the attempt to merge the two planes using Grey Wolf, if that's how long Mokad's been in Praska's body.

Defenses and To Hits for Your Party ~ Averages

By 15th (11th for the essentials version) level there's absolutely no other viable alternate choice and no reason not to take an expertise feat. What would you take in it's place? A primarily non-combat PC will have been able to get most of the skill related feats by then. Even avengers and...
