    D+D Power Creep

PHB3 has only one real thing that's creep: psionic classes that can spam weakly augmented psionic attacks at high level all encounter (some of the level 1s that add ability scores to d20 roles for 1 PP are insane at level 16 or so when you've got double digit power points and a +7). And possibly...

D&D 4E New to 4e and joining a Monsterous Campaign

How about a character who's mechanically a Deva (use all the diva rules) but re-flavored as a Raksha?

I want to stop my enemy from shifting...

Hold Fast, Paladin level 3 Encounter. Str or Cha, Immobilizes until end of next turn and can be used as a melee basic so you can even lock someone down with a OA.

What to do with all that treasure?!?

I run an Eberron game, so my PC's make use of the services of House Kundarak and get bank notes. Well... when they're not breaking into their vaults, that is.

    Thief + to hit crazy?

You're not even attacking reflex with piercing strike. I don't want to hear it.

    newbie DM has questions

Nope. All the other books are just more options. As the DM you may get some use out of the other MMs and DMG2. The PHB2-3 and essentials are just more stuff for new characters and a few options for old ones, not necessary. Do it. The new magic missile is terrible, and this is why. Yes...

    Difficult Player

I must be recruiting wrong. All my players are human nerds (I think one's a hybrid geek). Dude's a half orc, what did you expect? They didn't have -2 Cha in 3E for nothing.

    Warlock accuracy

That feat and a few others like it are a big part of the reason I just can't fully wrap my head around where warlocks stand as strikers. It was really powerful when it came out and never left the confines of dragon, but these days it's a pretty tame (but awesome) option that seems rather in line...

How good is the new MM? (Thread split)

Cloud of daggers auto-kills minions better, other wizard powers do anything else better. The only thing it's good for is being a ranged basic attack.

    January and Beyond!

I can see the shade as is, but that's because I don't like darkvision at heroic tier. It's the reason I wouldn't allow by the book drow in my game, and at one point I thought it was a 4E basic design principle. Loosing a healing surge is a decent enough trade off for that.

    January and Beyond!

The only problem with the shade is they should get an extra trained skill if their class automatically gets stealth (and, ideally, if they would get it via a multi-class feat). As is they're worse rogues in a way, because they're down a skill, nevermind the surge. Having sold some small part of...

    Walking Death

At the very least everyone should be doing something like this for Bull Rush, Grab and these sort of Item attacks.

Goblin Hexer - Errata? Or just OP?

Depends. The cloud makes the hexer's enemies within it suffer a -2 to attack. It also grants concealment to him and his allies while within it. So attacking into the cloud from outside or out of it from inside: -2. Attacking into the cloud from inside: -4. One's concealment and one's an...

Fun opponents for 11th level characters?

The main thing with a high level one-shot is you need to be really careful handing out feats. Avoid complex feats as much as possible, things that you can factor into the math on your sheet and forget are a lot easier.

    Reading perception on monsters?

You're hidden if and only if you meed the requirements for becoming hidden when you make your roll. You remain hidden until you do something to become unhidden, or until the monster makes a perception check activity to find you:

When did Sneak Attack get upgraded?

For what it's worth, I've had a kobold in my game. I nerfed shifty to a free action encounter power that lets him shift as a minor until the end of his next turn, with a paragon tier feat to make it at will. It's a nice power, and a little more than I want to see a PC have at heroic (same reason...

I've managed to avoid Essentials, until now...

The mage, specifically, is so much like the wizard you'll barely even notice the difference. No real harm there.

    New Playable Races?

I want more complete goblinoids and better orcs for my Eberron game. That's pretty much it (though for the love of batman make one of the races have the Con/Int option already. Warforged are right there).
