[Heroes of Battle] Dread Commando's group initiative bonus--too good?

Thanks for that ... ah well then the way I play it has been House Rules for a while then. Or this is a case where the single isolated case is right and all the calculations done are based on the wrong cases :) D

[Heroes of Battle] Dread Commando's group initiative bonus--too good?

Been away for a while but wanted to post regarding the Auras thing since it is important to get this straight: Hypersmurf: I was quoting from the SRD, combat section, so which part of the SRD has the alternate version? And has it been made official that one supersedes the other? Thanks D

[Heroes of Battle] Dread Commando's group initiative bonus--too good?

Okay I reread the marshall's auras last night .. 1. How on earth do they have +8 damage while flanking? Or does the marshall have a Charisma of 26? Remember Minor and Major Auras don't stack. 2. From the SRD Now the marshall's aura I believe (once again no book) states that you do additional...

D&D 3.x is there a comprehensive list of 3.5 feats and source book(s)?

I think you can list the Name, the one line fluff text, but that's it. D

    Computer at the game table?

I just use Excel most of the time. I've written my own campaign bits and pieces that run in Excel that include: initiative tracker, experience calculator, monster tracker, etc. The experience calculator even tells me when they have levelled up, takes care of their cohorts, and even allows me...

    RPGXplorer?

My suspicions for the buy-in early price is a logical numbers thing. They probably need money to continue with the project and are hoping to get some pre-sales going to get that money. As a developer I know it is hard to "hope" that someone buys your stuff when it is released after you've...

[Heroes of Battle] Dread Commando's group initiative bonus--too good?

I was referring to the wording of the aura. I thought it was worded in such a way that it was added on after all calculations -=shrug=-. I really need to work out how to have my books at work :) D

So, are we going to get a PHB II too?

And this is why I wish they would not make the text/sections flow together. I would love to cut the spine from my books and put the pages into a folder (or spiral bind or whatever) and be able to slip in new class sections/race sections as they appear in newer books. Even remove old sections...

[Heroes of Battle] Dread Commando's group initiative bonus--too good?

Ummm ... you shouldn't be multiplying that +8 damage as far as I know ... it is a flat out bonus. Don't have my book with me here at work to confirm. D

[Heroes of Battle] Dread Commando's group initiative bonus--too good?

I've personally never had high-level initiative problems. Granted high-level in my last campaign stopped at around 16th, however even then it wasn't always the PCs winning. They sometimes rolled badly, certain monsters I used were designed to last one or two rounds without problems. One thing...

[Heroes of Battle] Dread Commando's group initiative bonus--too good?

As Shin stated initiative is not the be all and end all of combat. In fact it is only "vital" for the first round if you're up against a foe you must kill quickly. After that its advantage is lost. The only time this initiative bonus will mean something is if they can collectively kill the...

    Formulas for D&D

I once worked out the spell chart formulas. Lost them in the great hard drive crash of 2003. It isn't a big deal working it out again. D

    Grease bombs

In theory you can make such an item ... would be similar in concept to the tanglefoot bag (which emulates Entagle quite well). You would follow all rules for area of affect missiles etc. D

Creatures who succesfully save immune for 24 hours...

Personally I never make players save every round for a ghost or like creature unless they leave the area of effect and return to it at a later stage. The reason for this is simply that the first failed save reduces future saves and will essentially paralyze a low-Will PC. If they leave the...

    When does D&D become d20M?

It all depends on what you think should happen to hardcore D&D magic/religion. d20M has magic but its not as common as D&D, so when did magic take a backseat. The industrial revolution is probably a big time for this. Perhaps during the Renaissance. People were turning more to mechanics and...

    "Shield Other" question

Reading the SRD description of the Spell it would seem to me that the priest takes damage, nothing more. Thus the damage is untyped. As a reference look at the Psionic Power Share Pain. It is identical to Shield Other. However examine Share Pain, Forced. It indicates that if you are immune to...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Ummm it doesn't matter what gender Diaglo is Brother is the correct term for the 60 year old guy. You can have a female/brother twin set, female/female twin set, and a brother/brother twin set barring genetic anomalies. Thus Diaglo's gender matters not in the statement since Diaglo's twin...

Arcane Spell Failure (and reducing it)

Actually it was more the Mark spells. I was DMing a campaign and allowed them in. I do like Monte's writing, and so I allowed everything Monte into the game. The Mark spells were a little overpowered in my opinion and did make sways in the game. However the spells you cite are indeed...
