WotC Hasbro CEO Chris Cox talks about D&D on NPRs Here & Now. Topics include Layoffs and OGL.

I kind of agree. They were answers that are round in nature; they start with the company, circle to the fan, then round to the board - the people that approve his bonuses. From his viewpoint, these were good answers. But as a person who is deeply invested in the hobby and cares about its...

Not to knock NPR, because I am a long-time listener. But sometimes softball questions are also because the journalist didn't do their due diligence when it comes to research. Asking difficult questions often means asking explicit questions, and for journalists, these are often the questions they...

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

On a side note, look at the Wizards in D&D's older editions. Aside from the diversity, including fantasy diversity such as species, most of them appear young.

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

I'm with @Ruin Explorer on this. I mean, at GaryCon they discussed about how they love that D&D5e is versatile. In an interview, Perkins discussed how D&D's expanded market came from its versatility. This, in my opinion, would expound upon that principle.

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

In the thread that discussed what people would like to see in the new DMG, I mentioned having a large chapter on playstyles. In that chapter, variant rules and art that matches those styles would definitely be welcome (imho). I think older players would get a kick out of seeing five pages of...

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

Backgrounds are narrative tools - with mechanics attached. And I understand your definition of realm, but it doesn't change the premise. Some spells or abilities don't work or make sense in "place x" is the same premise as some background features don't work or make sense in "place x." Same...

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

Correct. And that was my point to your original comment - they only work on a "realm" level. There are many things that work differently via plane. So why are we nitpicking a background feature that only works in a given area. To me, it houses the same premise.

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

I think the whole reason I like it is because he is not doing something magical. But the look in his eyes says he definitely could. ;) It's explicit versus implicit features in a piece of fantasy art that make me really like it. For me, I lean towards the implicit, although I am a sucker for...

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

I agree with your take. I am just adding that there are workarounds for these features. But in the end, it is DM discretion.

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

Ok. I guess. But the settings don't make that very clear since Eberron is filled with magic and FR is not. But you are discounting my other examples. Magic doesn't work the same in all planes. For example, spells that affect terrain might not be viable in Limbo. Spells that charm might not be...

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

To me, 5e nailed it the first time. I like this piece, although the glasses don't seem to fit, but overall very cool. But the original 5e wizard - perfection!

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

I just don't understand this thinking. A lot of the stuff in the PHB only works at the "realm" level. Does fireball work the same in the Elemental Plane of Water? Magic appears to work quite differently between Eberron and the Forgotten Realms. I mean, it is indicated all throughout the Eberron...
