Book of Nine Swords - Coolest Manuver?

I don't have the book yet but you might want to check out the WotC message boards. There are a couple of threads on the Character Optimization board that are all about the book and the INSANE combos you can make.

    WotC Sneak Peek Seminar

I know I'm in the minority here but I get bored just thinking about a Year of the Giants. For petes sake people, we have five monster manuals (including the Fiend Folio) full of unbelievable monsters and all people can think about is Dragons and Giants? Color me unimpressed.

    WotC Sneak Peek Seminar

I'm ambivalent on nostalgia products (did we just coin a new term?), probably because I've been into D&D since the late 70's and early 80's and I have a lot of the original material. IMO much of it hasn't aged well. That said, the reason I'm not entirely opposed to nostalgia products is because...

Mike Mearls' Monster Makeover Suggestions HERE

I vote for Gem Dragons which are impossible to figure out since they haven't been updated after the XPH was released.

Monster Manual IV and the Githyanki Psion

A githyanki without psionics is like wizard without spells. I just don't see the point. There are inumerable other monsters and races you can choose if you're looking for just another humanoid from another plane. Why mess with something as classic as the Githyanki? It makes no sense. I agree...

How Do You Explain D&D To Non-Gamers?

I don't tell people I'm a gamer. Period. Yes, I'm a closet gamer, and yes, my wife knows and so do my close friends but that's about it. I'm a finacial planner by trade and it just wouldn't sit well with my collegues, let alone my clients, to know that I spent my free time reading RPG books...

Warlords of the Accordlands - Master Codex

I've got a similar problem but instead of Rappan Athuk and ALL of the Accordland books (I'm starting with just the World Atlas), I have Cadwallon and the new Iron Kingdoms city book Five Fingers. One day at a time.

    Ptolus - Where to get?

Yep, I bought it yesterday from my local game shop (Gamescape, San Francisco), although it cost me $120 but that includes all the extras.

Is Rappan Athuk Reloaded a must buy?

Cuz a lot of people keep mentioning it. What's the story?

Iron Kingdoms city book is released

Apparently I've been living under a rock because this thing came out sometime in July. I had no idea until today when I saw it on the shelf at my local FLGS. I was under the impression that Privateer Press was done supporting their RPG and focusing only on the miniatures game. I guess I was...

Warlords of the Accordlands - Master Codex

Thanks for the review. As someone who rarely (read: never) gets a chance to play, do you think there is enough fluff in the Master Codex to justify the purchase or do you think I should stick with the World Atlas instead. From your review I get the impression that there might be enough in the...

    Half-Elemental templates

Have you seen the Mineral Warrior template from WotC's Underdark? I like it a lot. You can get it for free here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20031003e (scroll down a bit)

    Near future Sci-fi & psionics?

Spycraft 2.0 with free web conversion posted above would my choice but I must warn you that Spycraft 2.0 is NOT for the faint of heart. It's definitely on the crunchy side. If you are looking for a feats and skills version of psionics then you should consider Green Ronin's Psychics Handbook or...

    Web supplements or smaller font

Ahh!! Sorry I meant to say, Fiendish Codex. I'll go back and fix the original post.

    Web supplements or smaller font

All the web supplements for the first Fiendish Codex have made me wonder why they didn't just include them in the book. An incrased page count would undoubtedly increases the cost of the book and we now know that WotC won't go for that. Personally I'd rather see it included in the book even if...

Ptolus: City by the Spire Trailer!

Nice! So is the "P" in Ptolus silent?

    Hordes of the Abyss.

I know Fiendish Codex II is probably going to print by now but it would be nice if they "fixed" the CR issue given the fact that we will NOT see alternate stats in Dragon magazine for a very long time (if ever). The Demonimicon articles cover demons not devils. It would also be nice to have just...

    The Children of Gith

the only other source of information that you might be interested in is the recently published Complete Psionics from WotC. It doesn't really have any background information but it does provide additional rules to make githyanki and githzerai characters using racial levels instead of level...

[D&D]No more crunch books for me

QFT. Only recently has the difference dawned on me. Those six page prestige class descriptions? That's fluff (or crap as I like to call it). Setting material is very different and much more enjoyable than that crap that's been padding some of WotC's hardbacks the last year or two.

[D&D]No more crunch books for me

I forgot to mention one other reason why I'm not partial to crunch right now: A year ago I became a dad. Between work, my son and my wife I barely have time to breathe much less play. I've resigned myself (for the time being) to just read about fantasy instead of actually playing it. Under...
