[D&D]No more crunch books for me

I've decided to only buy setting books for the forseable future. Why? A couple of reasons: I smell forth edition in the horizon. I've got all the crunch I need. Setting material has a longer shelf life than rulebook material. I'm not much of a "do-it-yourselfer" so adapting rules to a new...

    Hordes of the Abyss: Q&A

James & Erik, All this talk about content that had to be dropped makes me wonder why you didn't reduce the font size. That's what they did with the FRCS and I'm thankful every time I have to reference the book. We all know that there isn't going to be a Hordes of the Abyss II and rather than...

    Player's Handbook 2 in play

I don't call that fluff, I call that crap. Fluff, for me at least, has more to do with setting and background information. It talks about specific people and places not generic (any setting) type material. Generic fluff (as you and many other call it) is crap, I agre with you completely. If you...

Who Else Has Never Been To Gen Con?

The funny thing about GenCon is that if instead of spending the money on flight, hotel, badge and food you went to your FLGS, you would more than own everything you ever wanted in the hobby. A trip to GenCon is EXPENSIVE, when you add it all together. Yes, it's fun, but it's probably more fun...

    Favorite Template?

The WotC website lists over 90 templates that have appeared in their various books since 3.0 came out. Third party publishers have created several times that amount (Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary and Goodman Games' Book of Templates are good examples). Which is your favorite? It's difficult...

    True20 Fantasy Paths

Question for those in the know: Will this book ever be in print or is pdf the only way to get it? Thanks.

Where can I find the Paragon template?

Thanks everyone. I am thinking of the template, not the classes. And Psion guessed right, I did become curious from it's mention in the recent HotA threads. Speaking of Psion, where the hell have you been recently? We haven't seen a review from you in ages?

Where can I find the Paragon template?

I keep seeing it mentioned here and there and I have no idea what book it's in. Is it Unearthed Arcana? Thanks.

    Favorite Dragon?

The index on the WotC website lists dozens of different Dragons (and that doesn't include third party sources). I'm curious to see which one is your favorite and why. For me it's got to be one of the gem dragons although I'm having a hard time deciding which. I love the fact that they are the...

    Dragon #344

I also agree. The buyers guide actualy annoys the living daylights out of me. I know Paizo needs the add revenue but don't play us for fools and list it as a feature. I've resigned myself to accept it as a necessary evil the same way NPR has their monthly pledge drives.

    Sell me on Arcana Evolved.

So far I've been able to resist the urge to but any of Monte's books in this line. I'm curious to see if I've missed out on anything. Why do you think I should or shoudn't buy this book?

Urban content: Races of Destiny vs. Cityscape

Don't forget that Alderac is publishing the Worlds Largest City later this year. I hope it's good.

Pick your favorite: Demon, Devil or Yugoloth

The fine folks at Dragon Magazine have a thing for Demons. Many around here thing Yugolth's don't get the attention they derserve. I've always seen Devils as the ultimate evil (I think it's the old Dragon articles from back in the 80's). Where do you stand and why?

    Amazon February 2007 Titles

This is just conjecture but it smells more to me like they are getting ready to rerelease the setting with 4th edition in August of next year. Just a guess.

    Amazon February 2007 Titles

Sarlona is a continent in the Eberron campaing setting. It is the home of the Kalashtar, a new psionic race introduced in the setting, as well as the monsters who currently rule the continent: the Inspired and the Quori. They are also heavily psionic.

    Amazon February 2007 Titles

Yes, but how is Wildwood? I've heard good things about the pdf. I'm looking forward to the dead tree edition.

    Amazon February 2007 Titles

Secrets of Sarlona - Now this I'm excited about. Too bad it's only 160 pages but it's better than nothing. It'll be the first 3rd edition setting material published by WotC that has psionics front and center. It's about time!!

Yugoloth's - How many types are there?

I'm trying to read Shemeska's wonderful story hour but I'm having a difficult time getting the hierarchy of the race straight in my head. Can anyone explain it to me? Can anyone point me to some illustrations of the different types of -loth's published? Thanks.

Choose one race in addition to the core races

Githyanki - I've always like'd them. I don't know if it's the psionics or the silver swords or what but they've always struck me an interesting race. I don't like the fact that they were stuck with a -2 wisdom adjustment (I'd probably change it to charisma) but other than that I think they...
