Can monks use flurry with grappling?

Yes, the steps are as follows. 1. Attack of Opportunity if allowed one. 2. Melee Attack to grab opponent. 3. Opposed Grapple checks to start the grapple. 4. If you wish to maintain the hold for later rounds, you must move into the targets space. MOVING AS NORMAL ALLOWS ATTACKS OF OPPORTUNITY...

    Mechanic-Nerfed Cloak of Elvenkind (etc.)

Exactly, in 3.0 there was a spot DC 20 to notice an invisible persons presence, kinda like Predator. So you can also hide in 3.0 as a back-up. In 3.5 it's +20 while moving, +40 while not moving to the hide chance. Of course, see invisibility negates that. What you are trying to do is make items...

Godless Clerics and the War Domain?

Theres also the D&D theory that a person, when devoted to a certain cause, with enough devotion, can manifest spells on their own. I believe it's somewhere in Deities and Demigods explaining why gods have to take cleric levels to cast cleric spells outside their domain. Which means, if you are...

How much does a backpack hold?

Very true, I think one of the biggest discrepencies all D&D games have, are the weights of weapons. Some of the heaviest bladed weapons were probobly no more than 7-8 pounds. As for bashing weapons, I could see maybe a 10 pound object after the counter-balance to the metal ball. Otherwise you'd...

    Wish/Ltd Wish & Class Skills.......

One thing people are forgetting, especially in Greyhawk. Wish spells, are EASILY TAMPERED WITH BY OUTSIDE DEITIES. In other words, the wish gets cast, and any of the gods that like THAT material plane (Iuz especially) are gonna have a field day playing with the wish and twisting it as much as...

    Keen bows--the final answer(?)

If flame effects, cold effects, and lightning effects can be magically bestowed on arrows BY the bow, then why not Keen? Mostly because if it were added to arrows, that x3 crit could get pretty nasty for a high-str warrior with decent magic on the weapon. CalrinAlshaw

    Falling Dire Bear

Believe it or not, the terminal velocity difference between a marble and a bowling ball is the same. Now, if the bear had large flaps of skin acting as a parachute, I'd say yes...but it doesn't. Only things that can cause more friction than normal (Wings, Feathers, etc.) can bypass terminal...

    Falling Dire Bear

The rules my groups tend to use, ARE consistent with physics, in that, you take more and more damage DUE to acceleration... 10 ft you take 1d6 20ft you take 3d6 Basically, you take 1d6 + 2d6 + 3d6 + 4d6 etc until terminal velocity...cuz you speed up. That makes potentially far falls extremely...

    Readied Actions?

Based on the Third Edition rules, having a readies action in combat basically means you give up your current initiative and it continually starts to count down through the characters, you character can decide when they WANT to act. So, if you are standing there with a sword, and nothings...

    Half dragons - underpowered?

The Half-Dragon template increases the HD to the next highest hit die, capping at d12 (sorry barbarians). So, a level 20 FTR w/22 Con would have 234.5 HP, a level 17 Half Dragon FTR w/24 Con would have 226. A difference of 6.5. (For Starters, using the Half-Dragons NEW HD of d12, it's average...

    Half dragons - underpowered?

Really now, when comparing stats, use something simple without basing things off of item gains and such for the ECL 17's. Lets base both characters off of a straight 10's average for both, so they are equal. Half dragon, 18, 10, 12, 12, 10, 12 (Total +7) Human 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 (0) Now...

    A Fighters skill points....

You can't become Templar at level 10, being as that Knowledge religion is not a class skill. Max you could have by level 9 is...13/2=6.5, 1.5 ranks short of being a Templar. Your orc as been broken. As well, the Order of the Bow initiate class is broken, unless of course a DM rules you can, you...

Improved Unarmed Strike and Weapon Finesse

I would make a Pin, Hold, and Break Another's Pin actions all strength based only. However, I would make the initial touch attack allow dex with weapon finesse, and escapes all allow dexterity, if the player chooses. To me, that sound realistic of wrestling. Calrin

    Tower Shields - useful?

In games I normally play in, Tower shields tend to be improvised more often than not or a magical item with size-alteration magic. Tables, doors, stuff like this make good tower shields if ya got a couple pitons and a bit of rope. Calrin

Improved Unarmed Strike and Weapon Finesse

Grappling only used the "unarmed" attack weapon when doing the Hold action to damage an opponent for real damage instead of just subdual. For pinning, you had no special benefits. Calrin
