Extremely interesting thread! For me personally, it is important that the aliens feel plausible in some way. The level of "bizarre-ness" is not as important as that there needs to be a reason that they communicate in the same way, or how they communicate with say humans to start with.

I'm running a playtest of our upcoming PSION campaign setting, preparing a few more campaigns for True20 and itching to try something dark and gritty fantasy.

True20 for me as the primary, M&M as the secondary. Both are great games and have had some outstanding supplements produced for them.

I would vote for True20 first, Savage Worlds second. Both are awesome.
