I kind of like the Mind Cleric. One minor change I would make is their 6th level Gestalt Anchor. I think a static +2 is a little bland, so I would house rule that it equals their proficiency bonus. That way it scales a little.

Where, specifically, does it actually say this? Shaman, as far as I recall from 2nd edition on, is sort of like a spirit druid. In fact, 2nd edition had a supplement devoted specifically to that. Is it possible that you are using hyperbole here? You mean like you're doing?

And honestly, "Shaman" is more preferable to "Witch Doctor," a term that is often and erroneously equated with it. "Witch Doctor" does, indeed, have negative cultural connotations.

While I see what you're saying, it's more of a way to allow my PC's to think about their actions and create interesting role playing scenarios. Maybe they rescue the Kobold children? Or take a sidekick? It's just add interesting tension and can allow for interesting solutions.

I've always played my D&D with the knowledge that there are no races that are inherently evil and that goblinoids, orcs, drow, etc. were all products of their environment (aka nature vs. nurture). It makes an interesting moral conundrum for good aligned player characters going in and...
