Accepting nominations for the Fan ENnie for Best Publisher

I'll update it before I go to bed. Once per day thereafter. It slowed down a lot this afternoon.

    Dealing with unthankful players

Here's one piece of related advice: Think of the time spent on game prep, the wiki, detailing your home-brew, etc., as unrelated to the game. Do them because you enjoy the world-building, not because you expect the players to appreciate it. It's nice if they do, but a lot of players just...

    Battlestar Galactica: the Boardgame

Up to six. I don't think you'll have a problem finding enough people. Just plunk it down in the Embassy and snag people as they walk by.

    Battlestar Galactica: the Boardgame

I'd be up for that Saturday evening, maybe, or Sunday night. I've got a copy I could bring. I'm hoping they'll have the expansion out at GenCon.

[Sat 10-2] Summer is Fading (A Song of Ice and Fire)

Summer is Fading The long summer is drawing to a close. House Callan, sworn vassal of House Starke, is busy preparing for the hardship of the long winter to come. Nestled between the Wolfswood and the Bay of Ice, life is not easy, and there is little margin for error. But the harvest has been...

D&D Online To Go Free This Summer

That night we spent duo-ing the mushroom caves (I can't even remember the name of it now) was possibly the most fun I've had in an MMO, Wulf. If they go to pay-for-play, I'll have to reinstall and give it another shot. Being able to play for an hour or two here and there and not feel like I...

Absolutely. All you need is one functioning hand. Dread is the ultimate in rules-light!

[Thursday 3-7] MIA (Dread) (Full, Accepting Alts)

Well, can't do it later because of the (presumed) picnic, or after that because of the (presumed) group dinner. Could do it Sunday night, I suppose; I don't leave until Monday.

    [Friday 10-2] MIA (Dread) (Full)

MIA In Miami during the summer of '83, pulling an unidentified corpse from the gator-infested swamp near the airport isn't that unusual. But the rest of the crap dragged from the muck, well, that's something you weren't expecting. So what started off as a routine drug murder just got a whole...

[Thursday 3-7] MIA (Dread) (Full, Accepting Alts)

Think of it as my own little ENW revitilization project, the Internet version of the Peace Corps. If the Peace Corps were staffed by perverts, of course. I've not done anything with evil clowns. We've played in a lot of games together, but I don't think I've ever GM'd for you.

Tell me about Spirit of the Century

Just got finished reading it and it adds some nice stuff to the SotC experience. Some good GMing tips and tools, and lots of good examples. I agree it would be a perfect fit for a Firefly-ish game, or something similar to Slipstream (B-movie scifi).

Uh, no thanks, I'll play this instead.

I can sort of sympathize. There are certain games that lend themselves to a level of rote play that gives someone who plays it all the time an unbeatable advantage. You're only choice is to play enough times to learn those optimal patterns, which isn't exactly fun. My best friend used to...
